Our Middle Schoolers @allthingsgateway explored Folk Theatre through songs, movement, chorus speaking, soundscapes, and lots of collective chaos and fun!

One of the most exciting parts of the process was watching children with very different learning styles find their own way into performance — through rhythm, movement, repetition, sound effects, props, and ensemble storytelling.

For many learners, Hindi started off sounding like one tongue twister. But somewhere between the recorded audio scripts, catchy verses, and dramatic pauses, children slowly began owning the bilingual dialogues in Hindi and English. 📃

Through stories around Indian hand-me-down culture, learners met characters inspired by tailors, rafugars, and quilt makers, professions slowly disappearing in today’s use-and-throw culture. 👗🛍️

Our favourite part? Watching children realise that in Folk Theatre, everyone carries the story. The clown/Vidushak is a storyteller. The chorus matters. A piece of fabric can become anything. 🤡

Special drumroll to @dhanendrakawade for introducing us to Folk Theatre. We're still humming his songs in the corridors!

Winter doesn’t quite feel like winter until it snows. And in the last few years, snow has been elusive.

We know climate change is real,
and yet, each winter day, we wait…
hoping to see soft flakes falling from the sky, for our world to quietly turn into a white wonderland.

That’s exactly what happened last evening, and it felt like an answered prayer.

But this morning felt even more beautiful. The sun was out. A crisp, bright, blue day, as if everything had been washed clean overnight.

The fields lay under a soft carpet of snow. Benches, tables, everything outdoors, held a layer of white, sparkling magic.

I’m grateful I got to share this joy with Archana, Farhan, and Rohan cause - “Happiness is only real when shared.”

Here’s hoping the snow gods feel generous and bless us with more snow this winter ❄️

❤️Best part of November, a carousel in true satisfaction. Awards & public recognition of the work is fine in its place. However, what’s truthfully far more satisfying, existentially is when your students, especially those you taught in school, grow up to become teachers themselves, a whole cycle of existence completes. Karmically, this is nourishing.
So so nourishing.

Very very proud of these gentle, tender and deep souls who have done so well finding their own way in a rather complex world #sograteful #kudos #love
