EXHIBITION OPENING.. Elvarratlan Szálak by Zsofia Rez @funyourslf

Alföld Embroidery is held in special regard in Hungary, as it is a highly valued element of its intangible cultural heritage.

The tradition and craftsmanship associated with it are passed down from generation to generation in Hungary’s rural areas.

Every line, pattern, and element on the fabric tells a story about its creators, their traditions, and their deep connection to the land.

Its history dates back to the early 18th century. Characteristic features include large, lush floral motifs, such as pomegranates, tulips, rosettes, drawn freehand.

Opening 2nd September / 5pm / walk-ins only

It’s a wrap for 2021. Many thanks for hosting us, team Art Market Budapest. We had a blast meeting old friends (many for the first time since early 2020) and making new ones. Bring on 2022! Many thanks for ace curator, Naomi Scott, and participating artists: Anna Tihanyi, Ludo Thiriez, Feri Dobak, Sophie Rez and Cedric Af Geijersstam (all duly tagged so you can follow them).
