It was my honor to talk about the real consequences at the 4th annual planetary boundary launch with Prossor Johan Rockstrom, President Santos and Mary Robinson, and Nobel prize winning scientist Professor Carlos Nobre. It was also my heartbreak to talk about these stories in a room so far removed from the places I mentioned. But I am greatful for this task.
Through the @futuregenerationstribunal my team and I will continue demarcating these stories. We will continue to insist that they are evidence of loss. We will make sure lives in their fullest are honored and so are the losses.

What does it mean to protect the rights of future generations? 🤔

Fatemah Sultan is a co-founder and Director of Partnerships at @futuregenerationstribunal (FGT) – a youth-led network working to secure the environmental rights of future generations.

We recently had the chance to speak to her about how the organisation came about, the gaps she sees within the conservation landscape, and how FGT is ensuring that youth and the generations to come are represented.

A partner of ours since 2025, FGT brings attention to the outsized impact ecological change is having on young people as the stewards of the future.

Working with large international legal institutions, such as the International Court of Justice – as well as national and local governments – they are creating a database of individual testimonies from those impacted by climate change.

Connecting to values of traditional ecology and Indigenous principles, FGT believes that in the same way that we preserve history for our ancestors, we must preserve the natural world for those who have yet to come.

Albinism and Climate Change: The Forgotten Victims of Global Warming in the DRC

Climate change spares no one, but its impacts disproportionately affect people with albinism, particularly in eastern DRC.

With the intensification of solar radiation linked to global warming, people with albinism face increased risks of skin burns and skin cancer. This reality, often invisible in climate debates, represents a major public health issue in tropical regions.

Chibalonza Muderwa Esther testifies to this reality in a poignant video that highlights the daily challenges faced by people with albinism in the face of extreme climate conditions.
