I threw a bridal shower for my bestie. ❤️

At first, she wasn’t even going to have a bridal shower but I’m like what?? lol. We MUST have a shower, I will throw it. When I asked Kristen what she wanted, she told me, “I just want to show up and get showered.” I said, say less, friend. 😂 And that’s exactly what we did.

Over the years, Kristen and Shun have hosted so many holidays, parties, and get-togethers that I honestly can’t even keep track. Kristen is the kind of person who shows up for her people and claps for her friends, no matter what she may have going on herself.

During COVID, when so many people were sick, I remember her cooking homemade soup and making elderberry syrup, then driving around dropping it off to probably a dozen people. That’s just who she is. She supports her friends, their businesses, their dreams, their celebrations… all of it. She also has planned so many trips for us that I am truly grateful for because I am not a planner lol (which is why I’m sure she was so nervous about this shower because I wasn’t saying anything lol).

So it was truly an honor and my pleasure to host this shower for her and give her a chance to simply show up, be celebrated, and receive some of the love she has spent so many years giving to everybody else. ❤️

And Shun has been such an amazing addition not only to her life, but to all of ours. 😂 It’s not often that you get to witness someone find a true love and a real life match. He is thoughtful, intentional, and pays attention to both the big things and the little things. Case in point: him showing up to the bridal shower just to be there for his woman. 🥹

I love y’all, I’m so happy for y’all, and I’ll see y’all in MEXICO! 🇲🇽❤️🥂

And a special shoutout to Linda for co-hosting, Tasha, Charletta, and Drea helping me make this happen for our girl ❤️

She’s getting married! 💍🤍Congratulations to my beautiful friend, Kristen! You truly deserve all the love and happiness life has to offer.

Thank you for inviting me to celebrate such a special moment with you at your bridal shower. I had such a wonderful time and met some incredible ladies! 🥂✨

As you step into this beautiful new chapter, I pray that God covers your marriage, guides you both through every season, and always keeps Him at the center of your home. May your marriage be filled with love, patience, understanding, laughter, and a friendship that only grows stronger with time. May God bless you abundantly as you step into your new role as a wife. I’m so happy for you, my sweet friend. I love you!

Today- Leadership Houston hosted their 3rd annual Leadership Houston Symposium at the Harris County Department of Education. 📖 Several Houston leaders in the education, non-profit and public safety sectors were featured like HISD superintendent Mike Miles and Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. 🎤
I helped moderate their “How human capital runs Houston” panel, discussing the importance of volunteering for organizations doing so much good in our city. There are over 40,000 nonprofits operating in our region, that are always looking for more volunteers. Special thanks to my 💙 soror Sheree “Principal Auntie” Bogany for helping put this all together. It was so great seeing @futureiconkp too loved her power suit 🫶🏾
