Take It. Leave It. Spread a Little Art Love. 💕
Open Mind. Open Heart. Share the Art Love.
I finally made it over to @janasfreelittleartgallery, and it was every bit as charming as I hoped it would be.
Tucked away in Fuquay-Varina, this bright pink little gallery operates on a simple idea: take art, leave art, or do a little of both.

And if you know me, you already know I couldn’t resist doing both. 😂
I brought home two tiny pieces of someone else’s creativity and left behind a few pieces of our own.

👻 Scaredy Ghost by MeeMee & Nugget (Braxtin, age 8).

👀 I See You, Puppy! by MeeMee & Sunshine (Evelyn, age 4).

💕 “Believe in Yourself” created by Kimmee (age unknown)

I usually write my own reflections, comments or poetry on the back of many of my pieces,
however I felt led to share this little inspiration by Ted Lasso.
because there are times that we may need a gentle reminder to let things go,
Allow ourselves and others a little grace,
and to keep swimming forward like a goldfish!
(With a two second attention span)

What I loved most wasn’t just the art. It was seeing so many unique creations from people of all ages tucked inside that tiny gallery. Every piece represented someone’s imagination, creativity, and willingness to share a little piece of themselves with a stranger.
Watching my grandbabies create something not to keep, but to give away may have been my favorite part of the experience. There’s something special about teaching children that creativity isn’t just for us. Sometimes it’s meant to be shared.

As many of you know, through AOK Training Center and throughout my career in healthcare, emergency preparedness, disaster response, and education, I’ve spent much of my life helping people through some of their most difficult moments. I’ve witnessed incredible acts of courage, celebrated triumphs, and stood beside individuals and families during tragedy, trauma, and loss.
One of the messages I share often is that you can’t take care of other people if you’re not taking care of yourself.
For me, art is one of the ways I do that.
It’s where I process the good days, the hard days, and sometimes the heartbreaking ones. It’s where I quiet my mind,
