The Ashland (@the_ashland) brings together residential, retail, and cultural spaces in the heart of Brooklyn’s Cultural District, with its lower levels creating a distinct presence along Ashland Place.

At the base of the building, 5,000 square feet of terracotta introduces a warmer, more solid material alongside the surrounding glass. Panels shift in size and placement across the facade, while narrow window openings break through the larger terracotta surfaces.

Along the glass-facing elevations, projecting terracotta sunshades extend vertically across the facade, carrying the material beyond the solid walls and creating a connection between the different sections of the building.

An evening where film, food, and design come together.
ADFF joined Fisher & Paykel for an intimate evening pairing a curated program of short films with a multi-course dinner by Chef Sam Mason, creating an unexpected dialogue between what we see on screen and what we experience at the table.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of conversation, cinema, and culinary storytelling. 🍽️

This is just the beginning; please join us to celebrate the official season of ADFF:NY from Oct 12-17, 2026. Link in the bio. 🎬

In Manhattanville, a business school whose stairs double as places to learn. 🎓

Columbia Business School by Diller Scofidio + Renfro + FXCollaborative won the 2023 Prix Versailles Special Prize for Interior award. The school’s new home in Manhattanville spans about 492,000 square feet across Henry R. Kravis Hall and David Geffen Hall, doubling its space. The design treats creativity, innovation and communication, skills often nurtured in informal settings, as being as important as the quantitative skills taught in a classroom.
Inside, intersecting networks of circulation and collaborative spaces rise through both buildings, tying teaching, socialising and studying into one continuous space that stays active 24 hours a day. Floors of offices alternate with learning spaces, stepped seating with bright cushions gives students room to gather, and every classroom looks out over the city or landscape through tall glass walls.

Great turnout for the launch of Collective Living and the Architectural Imaginary, followed by a panel on what New York could build next.

The conversation looked forward: with Toby Snyder (FXCollaborative) and Rosie Tilley (Charney Companies), moderated by Nicole Vlado, with a discussion at the intersection of housing design, domesticity, and urban life.

Aaron Mertz from @aspeninstitute framed the conversation through a stunning introduction.

National Skyscraper Day feels like the perfect opportunity to revisit one of New York City’s most recognizable towers, the New York Times Building.

Rising 52 stories above Midtown Manhattan, the building is wrapped in one million linear feet of a custom white glazed Alphatube ceramic sunshade. The horizontal tubes form a sunscreen across the glass facade, filtering direct sunlight while creating the distinctive exterior seen throughout the tower.

What New York Could Build Next: Design, Domesticity, and Urban Life

What New York Could Build Next: Design, Domesticity, and Urban Life brings together architects, developers, and urban thinkers for an evening conversation on the future of housing in New York City. Using the launch of Collective Living and the Architectural Imaginary by Felipe Correa, Anthony Averbeck, and Devin Dobrowolski as a point of departure, the discussion will examine what global housing history can teach us about what is spatially, civically, and culturally possible beyond the standard development model, and how this applies to New York City. The evening will thread together presentations from architectural research, design practice, and real estate development, followed by a conversation and questions from the audience. Copies of Collective Living and the Architectural Imaginary will be available for purchase at the event.

We’re getting close to the opening of One Pace Plaza East!

This transformation in the heart of lower Manhattan represents a bold convergence of urban renewal, sustainable design, and innovation in performing arts planning.

Our team helped balance the rigorous demands of a full building gut and renovation alongside the development of cutting-edge theatre and production infrastructure.

Picture shows the completed 450 seat proscenium theatre.

It was great working on this project with @fxcollaborative
