When a man grows, he must let go.
Not of honor, nor of truth
but of the crowd that cheered him only when it served them to.
He must learn that not every hand extended is meant to lift,
and not every smile speaks kindly when the back is turned.

I no longer ask to be seen by those who never looked.
I’ve buried the hunger for approval,
laid it down like a worn-out shield I no longer need.
In its place, I carry peace.
Hard-won. Quiet. Enough.

My circle is small,
not from bitterness, but from clarity.
A wife who’s held the line.
Children who carry my name and my hope.
Handful of friends who never counted the cost of standing beside me.

That is wealth.
That is tribe.

The world will offer you a thousand names for friendship,
but call none of them real until they’ve stayed through silence,
not just song.

And now and then, the past will send you a gift,
an old friend with no demands,
just a memory and a shared meal under simpler skies.
No need for speeches.
Just the kind of presence that reminds you
some bonds don’t break-they simply sleep until called.

Let others chase crowds.
Let them measure their worth in numbers and noise.
I will walk with the few who never needed a reason to stay.

And if that makes me a man alone,
