AU LARGE by Lisa Rayar × Gabriel Marcella

Revealed for the first time on the JF3 runway through PINTU Residency Program, AU LARGE is a co-designed collection that brings together French maritime heritage and Indonesian craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.

Inspired by the world of French sailors, the coastal traditions of Northern Java, and the Javanese Sedekah Laut ceremony, the collection explores the sea as a space of connection rather than separation. Maritime workwear meets Javanese batik, fluid draping, oversized silhouettes, and contemporary materials, creating a wardrobe shaped by shared cultural references.

Through craftsmanship and collaboration, AU LARGE explores how heritage can cross borders, evolve, and take on new meaning.

At sea, borders begin to fade. What remains are the gestures, the craftsmanship, and the stories passed from one shore to another.

Inspired by French maritime traditions and the heritage of Javanese coastal communities, where the sea shapes daily life, labour, and rituals such as Sedekah Laut, a ceremony expressing gratitude and respect for the ocean. Au Large reimagines French maritime dress codes through a contemporary lens, enriched by Javanese craftsmanship. Featuring handcrafted batik with abstract, philosophical sea-inspired motifs developed in Mojokerto and checkered meets French maritime stripes, sarong-inspired batik developed in Pekalongan are translated into sculptural, fluid, and experimental silhouettes.

Au Large / Offshore is a co-designed collection by Lisa Rayar @lisarayar.studio ,a French fashion designer exploring Asian textile heritage through contemporary fashion, and Gabriel Marcella @gabrielm_la ,founder of Soedisoei @soedisoei and a menswear fashion designer based in Semarang, Indonesia.

Meet @gabrielm_la , an ESMOD Jakarta Fashion Design graduate whose creative journey continues through cross-cultural collaborations.

Gabriel is participating in the PINTU Residency Program, collaborating with Paris-based fashion designer Lisa Rayar to create a collection that brings together Indonesian batik and French pattern-making.

Through the residency, she explores Indonesia’s rich craftsmanship and artisan traditions while exchanging ideas and techniques with a French designer — creating a dialogue between Indonesian heritage and French fashion artistry.

Alongside her work outside the fashion industry, Gabriel continues to pursue her passion for fashion as a freelance designer and through her own label, @soedisoei , where she continues to explore her creative practice.

[28th July, 2026] Indonesian-French Seminar on Fashion & Craftsmanship

As part of PINTU Focus Week 2026, PINTU & IFI Jakarta gathered French and Indonesian designers, academics, and fashion professional experts dedicated to exchanging ideas across disciplines.

The session explored how craftsmanship can remain relevant in a rapidly changing industry, highlighting conversations around sustainable practices, material innovation, textile development, and the cultural narratives embedded within fashion on shaping the next chapter of the fashion industry.
