THURSDAY 🗞️ DUMP
• The Supreme Court on Thursday is set to consider a bid by the Trump administration to narrow three lower court orders blocking President Trump from ending birthright citizenship, in cases that test judges’ power to block a president’s policies nationwide.

• Singer Cassie Ventura has been testifying at the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs for two days so far. Cross-examination is began Thursday. She testified about years of psychological and physical abuse during their decade-long relationship, including the video of Combs attacking her at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

• The House is moving forward on President Trump’s “one, big beautiful bill,” as three committees on Wednesday voted to advance some of the most contentious parts of the major budget package aimed at addressing the president’s defense, energy and tax priorities.

• President Trump’s push to remove people from the U.S. using the wartime Alien Enemies Act got a rare stamp of approval from a federal judge this week, as one of the more controversial parts of Mr. Trump’s immigration strategy faces a slew of court challenges.

U.S. District Judge Stephanie Haines of Pennsylvania, a Trump nominee, ruled Tuesday the president is legally allowed to use the 18th-century law to deport Venezuelan migrants accused of belonging to the gang Tren de Aragua. However, Haines also said the administration hasn’t given people facing Alien Enemies Act removal enough notice to bring court challenges.

• Judge Hannah Dugan is set to be arraigned Thursday in Milwaukee on federal obstruction charges after allegedly helping a man evade immigration authorities during a federal law enforcement operation at her courthouse.

Soon after the clock strikes midnight on Halloween, the grand escalators at @eatalytoronto are flanked by walls of festively wrapped bread by brands such as Bonifanti, Balocco, Borsari, Vergani, Galup and Tommaso Muzzi. Panettone has been one of the gourmet supermarket’s bestselling categories in Canada since the Toronto store opened in 2019. The uptick in interest since then has been overwhelming. Last year in particular saw exponential growth, with the retailer selling more than 20,000 units of panettone (and its plainer counterpart, pandoro) over the holiday season. The value of its eye-catching packaging shouldn’t be discounted. “Brands are trying to preserve the iconic graphics of their house, and if they opened in 1944, that aspect is what they keep. Some are hand-decorated. Highly recommend going into the woods to marry the love of your life. And doing it your way.

We had readings from bell hooks and Carl Sagan. Cooked all weekend, hit some trails. Watched our family (both relatives and friends) come together, connect, and really show up for us in ways that we’ll never forget.

Kev and I haven’t had a simple or linear journey. And I think it’s an important part to acknowledge, and yes, to be celebrated. Both of us vowed to continue adventuring + growing together... so it all becomes a part of our story. Marriage was never the end goal, it’s a beginning of the journey from here. And I can’t wait to see where it takes us 🤍

The last slide is a poem called This is For You by Leonard Cohen, which Kev read to me the morning after our celebration 🥹

Had a beautiful 4 days in Tiny celebrating Zai and sharing the good things in life - friendship, swimming, sunshine, stars, sand, s’mores, outdoor showers, fresh fruit, delicious wine, birthday cake and antiquing in small towns. Thanks for the nicest time @zairaj1 @dr_em ❤️
