We had a fantastic lunch at the newly opened Naia Restaurant, one of Chicago’s newest waterfront dining experiences. Located right along the Chicago River, the space is bright, energetic and beautifully designed, with incredible views from nearly every angle. The Mediterranean-inspired menu is meant for sharing, so we sampled the spicy feta, charred eggplant, beet tzatziki and truffle honey labneh before moving on to the crab-topped falafel, spicy tuna crispy rice and the chicken schnitzel served with zhoug, white harissa and hot honey. Every dish brought something different to the table, but the schnitzel was easily one of the highlights. Reservations are a must!

Our primary wine was the 2025 Gamble Estates Sauvignon Blanc from Yountville. Fresh and silky with notes of kiwi, lemongrass and mint, it was exactly the kind of wine this menu called for. Its bright acidity cut through the crispy schnitzel and creamy spreads, while the citrus and herbal notes worked especially well with the crab falafel and spicy tuna crispy rice. A beautiful bottle, a table full of bold Mediterranean flavors and the Chicago River just outside the window—this was one of those lunches where the setting, food and wine all came together perfectly.
