An Albion family has adopted Prince, a playful greyhound racing dog who took a liking to the family’s two children straight off the bat.

“When we met him, he was such a happy, sweet dog,” Laura Wheller said.

The Wheller family filled in a questionnaire from the @gap_qld, an Albion-based organisation, with some basic information, and within a few months had the perfect match.

A Great Global Greyhound Walk, an annual dog-walking event, will be held by GAP on Sunday, September 27 at Arana Hills.

For any further information about the event or if you’d like to adopt a greyhound, please visit the GAP website gapqld.com.au.

Happy International Dog Day! A day in the life of a greyhound… 🐾❤️

A walk on the lead, a brush and a little pampering, nails done, some time exploring the yard, a snooze in the sunshine… and, of course, plenty of pats and cuddles along the way. ☀️

Behind the kennel doors, there are lots of simple moments like these — wagging tails, happy faces, excited greetings and greyhounds who are always ready to lean in for just one more cuddle. 🥰

They are incredible athletes when it’s time to race, and away from the track they’re the same goofy, affectionate, sun-loving couch potatoes that we all adore.

Walk. Eat. Play. Snooze. Cuddle. Repeat. 🐕💤❤️

Just a little glimpse into everyday greyhound life — and some of the many reasons we love spending our days with these beautiful dogs. 🐾

The greyhounds stole the show at Suday’s annual Greyhound Sweepstakes at the @theekka!

The sweepstakes continue to be a fantastic opportunity for owners, breeders and handlers of pre-racing, racing and retired greyhounds to put their purebreds on display.

The event also gives the general public a chance to get up close and personal with the beautiful dogs, and to speak with the @gap_qld about greyhounds as pets post-retirement from racing.

📹 More from the day coming soon!

While people may say their dogs are “couch potatoes” 🥔…regular walks are still incredibly important for dogs 🐶

Walks along different paths is great exercise, letting them sniff helps stimulate their brains 🧠 and it’s great for their in-general wellbeing!

Has life become super busy? We’re here to help keep your pooches happy….
