Bells of Ireland deserved a mention..

Part of my series on flower colours and textures, and today we’re talking about Bells of Ireland, otherwise known as Moluccella.

Despite the name, the flower is native to Turkey, Syria, not Ireland. And plot twist: the green “bells” aren’t actually the flowers, but cup-shaped calyces surrounding mini white blooms. They belong to the mint family, have a subtle, sweet scent, and are often associated with good luck. 🍀

Moluccella brings all the good stuff to a floral arrangement: height, movement, architectural lines, and a gorgeous acid green that makes other colours pop.

A little unusual, a little whimsical, and a reminder that flowers don’t always need big petals to make a statement. 🧚🏽🧚🏽‍♀️🧚🏽

Turns out artichokes have a whole other life.

The part we eat is actually the immature flower head. If you leave it to bloom it turns into this incredible thistle like flower & if you pair it with a vibrant red, a beautiful color combination is made.

Nature is weird. I love it. 🌀

me 🤝🏽 turning perfectly good living spaces into floral installations.

Episode 2 of my series featuring flower colors and textures includes dahlias, lisianthus, snapdragons, and asters. Loving the whimsy of it all 🧚🏽‍♀️
