Meet Gareth & Michael. They met about 8 yrs ago. Michael had had cancer at that point already 10 yrs. They met camping, couple handsome dudes bonding over a shared love of air streams. They also have in common 2 stunning wives - WOW these women! 2 lucky guys.

Little did they know then that they would ride TOGETHER for @pmcfride Because now they share something else in common. Gareth was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer approx 4 yrs ago.

I’m guessing you know someone who’s been affected by the words ‘you have cancer.’ I know too many. And have lost too many.

For this reason I’m joining them AND riding in 16 sleeps 200 kms to Niagra. Cripes I’m not prepared. But with what they’re fighting I can do anything! It’s the spring market and I’m working 14 hr days….maybe 16. But they’re in the fight for their lives.

It all started with a dear visit from my cherished pal @knowltonandco who said Michael and I are riding. Well I LOVE Michael and I hate cancer. I want to keep my friends. In my life. Count me in.

THEN I get the privilege of meeting @garethseltzer OUR captain of our team THE BAD PANDAS - the man defines good so name seems ironic? But I digress…Apparently he used to have a belly? He’s a vision of a rider so can’t see that now?! He’s one of the most determined men I’ve ever met. Heck, I sponsor the team from one email. He’s a man on a mission. HIS DREAM. To raise a mill on this ride!?!? The team is at $900k but GARETH alone is at $688,888😳 he’s the #1 fundraiser for the ride!!! Because he wants EVERYONE with cancer to have a fighting chance. Pls help me make this happen! Pls donate even $10!!!! And let’s realize the dream!

Our team is only 21 deep!!! We WILL set a record!
🙏🏻I’d love your $10 xoxox

I should go get on my bike now….

It’s been a rough couple of weeks.

I’ve been in and out of the hospital dealing with something that knocked me sideways harder than I expected. After two full weeks, I’m just starting to feel like myself again.

Earlier this year, Lynne and I signed up to ride 200 km for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation on June 13–14. We bought bikes. Got a Peloton. Started training.

Then everything stopped.

The other day I was home, out of the hospital but barely, lying in what felt like my own little isolation room, not sleeping, listening to music, and a song came on that just broke me open.

And what I felt, very clearly, was this:

I’m not done.

I’ve been a cancer patient for 20 years. My dad was treated at Princess Margaret, and Lynne’s dad too. This ride was never about fitness. It’s about gratitude, and doing something that matters while you can.

I am on the other side of this now. New road bikes arrive this week.

If you’ve already donated, thank you. It landed differently from that hospital bed than I can explain. If you’ve been thinking about supporting the ride, the link is in my bio and Lynne’s link for her donation page is in her bio.

Back at it.

P.S. Our team, The Bad Pandas, is led by dear friends @garethseltzer and Monique Seltzer, fellow cancer survivors and Honorary Chairs of the 2026 Ride. We’re now 20 riders strong, joining 4,500 others carrying the fire for cancer research and early detection.

Meet the 2026 Honorary Chairs! 👏

Gareth Seltzer, cancer survivor and entrepreneur, and Monique Seltzer, enthusiastic new Rider and volunteer, are gearing up as Honorary Chairs of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation Ride presented by Johnson & Johnson. As Honorary Chairs, they will lend their time, treasure and talent to raise critical awareness and funds for life-saving cancer research.

In 2022, Gareth was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer: salivary duct carcinoma. Fortunately, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre had the expertise and specialists needed to tackle this unusual cancer and provide the best possible care. Nearly four years later, his remarkable journey from patient to community champion is a powerful testament to our shared mission. “My cancer survivor flag will be just one among many. That illustrates how outcomes are rapidly improving,” Gareth said.

Over the past 19 years of the Ride, we have raised over $321 million. We're excited to see this year's impact — thank you for helping us create a world free from the fear of cancer.
