Throwback Friday to @prettycripple exhibit of hand knit wraps @garnerartscenter @garnerhistoricdistrict that was mind blowing. Magda was an amazing student 🤣. I’m a fashion designer, she’s a graphic designer and fashion blogger. So together we devised an adaptive pattern and off she went with breathtaking yarn combinations and custom made buttons. Great fashion? HELL YES! Here’s @stephanie_benshimol wearing the hooded ice blue wrap. How GORGEOUS does she look?!!! If you’re a knitter, we’ve got the pattern for you.

🎨  WE’RE HIRING! 🎨 GARNER Arts Center is looking for a Director of Program Operations  to help shape, coordinate, promote, and bring its arts programming to life. This is a great opportunity for someone who can move comfortably between  big ideas and getting things done from developing programs and managing budgets to marketing an exhibition, working with artists, overseeing events, and making sure everything actually happens.  The ideal candidate has experience in creative programming, arts administration, project management, communications, grant writing, social media, and/or graphic design — and is comfortable wearing a lot of hats. The position:
• Part-time — approximately 25 hours/week
• $40,000 salary
• Hybrid work potential
• Paid holidays, vacation & sick time
• Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends

The Main Gallery of Building 35 has been completely reimagined as four artists ask the question… Could silt carry wonder? Becoming Earth, Becoming Cosmos, an exhibition by @bel.falleiros, @koyoltzintli, @jessicamaffia, and @hanae_utamura opens to the public September 12th 12-5pm With an Opening Reception September 19th, 7pm Organized by Bel Falleiros, the exhibition brings together four artists that are both connected by geography (along the shores of the Hudson River, from Troy to Upper Manhattan) and by their relationship to landscape, ancestral knowledge, and the cycles of life. Occupying the Main Gallery, is a large collaborative site-specific installation: a sculptural-drawing floor work made of earthly materials, threaded together by a sound piece composed from their breath and voices. Psycho under the stars (much preferred to a psycho under the stairs...) on Saturday night at GARNER Arts Center! A perfect night out, and my first time seeing this Hitchcock classic — I'd only ever seen Rear Window. This once again cemented in my brain that we NEED to be watching more films outside — on the sides of buildings and bringing back the drive-in!! Fast forward to this morning, I found out that my grandmother went to college with Anthony Perkins — Norman Bates, himself — in 1951 at Rollins College!
