If “lifesaving is for life” ever needed an advert, this is it. Nine masters from Cape Town clubs. 22 South African masters individual pool records between them. And every one of them races in the Rescue Sport Series, on the same pool deck as our juniors and seniors. Carryl van Bassen Jongbloet holds seven, across two age groups. Michelle Moxley Lamprecht holds five. Eloise Horne set three in a single day at the 2026 Champs. And Heather Cresswell and Michelle both swam 1:17,71 in the 100m Obstacle on the same day. Different age groups. Same time, to the hundredth. Swipe through. Then come and watch them race. 🖤💛 Training Diaries: Pool Rescue Squad working on carrying technique 📍 St. Cyprian’s Pool 🌤️ Indoor session 👥 Masters, Senior & Junior Pool Rescue Coaches Corner: “Trust me, it will all come together 🤪” – Coach Lolly On Saturday our team focused on carrying technique today, looking at what works best for each athlete between dolphin and flutter kick. The emphasis was on finding rhythm and timing that stays consistent under load, while keeping the carry stroke smooth, controlled, and without any unnecessary bounce through the water.

MENS 100M MANIKIN TOW CHAMPION: Wilan Basson - Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club 🏆 Wilan Basson produced the defining performances of the season in the Men’s 100m Manikin Tow. Race after race, he found another level when it mattered, establishing himself as one of the standout pool athletes of the series. CLIFTON IN THE 90’s — LEGACIES BUILT IN THE SURF The 90’s at Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club was simple. No social media. Speedo sponsored our costumes. Castle Lager sponsored our sport. The iconic CLIFTON yellow stood out on black — worn with pride. It was 4th Beach sessions in proper cold Clifton water. No wetsuits at training, ever. Just fresh sunset swims, sweaty sessions in soft sand, touch rugby warm-ups, and a few bombs off an old Paarman board at First Beach when it was firing. We made strides in the 90’s. Springbok Debbie McCallum representing South Africa. 1995 SA Champs hosted at Camps Bay. 1996 — our first ever team sent to Lifesaving World Champs in Durban 🌍 Alongside seasons of surf carnivals, provincial racing, and endless weekends on the beach. But it was never just about the results. It was the culture built between races. The friendships formed in the surf. The pride of pulling on Clifton colours. And not much has changed.🖤💛

🇿🇦 SA LIFESAVING CHAMPS – MASTERS What a day. 🖤💛🏁⚡️ There’s something pretty special about lining up with the most experienced legends of our sport and community. People balancing life, work, health… and the occasional physio appointment… yet still absolutely fired up to run around the beach together like we did when we were kids. That’s the magic of it. Results from the day: 🥇 Ski 🥇 Board 🥇 Double Ski with @ginamcclelland – reclaiming our 2022 title! 🥉 Beach Relay Dream Team with Gina & Lolly 4th – Flags 4th – Taplin 5th – Sprints But the real highlights were the moments younger Tina would have lost her mind over. Going stroke for stroke with the incredible @nikkimocke in the ski race. When I was growing up she was the RSA lifesaver and Olympic paddler I looked up to. Still bringing that same energy and passion to the sport today. Lining up in the flags pit with @mandi_augustyn – a world champion I’ve known since U10s – was wild. Watching her and @mel_demorny carve their lines was next level. Then sharing our first ever board race together? Even better. Seeing the mighty Masters Clifton Okes like Ross, Matt, Troy, Buntu, Mark, Bryan rocking and rolling was also a big highlight. We’ve had some seriously fun Wednesday training sessions in the lead-up, and it’s been awesome building that shared goal and gees together. And the absolute best part: racing alongside our Masters Clifton Chix – Gina, Dani, Lolly, Lisa, Kate, Carol & Trace. Women who lead, support and inspire in more ways than one. That’s the real win I get to cherish for life!

🏆 WC POOL RESCUE CHAMPIONS 2026 🏆 We are so proud of our Clifton Team for once again retaining our Youth and Open titles ⚡️ Clifton performed strongly across the weekend, with lots of PBs, WC & SA HP qualifying times, a couple of SA 🇿🇦 Masters records, and multiple podium finishes — showing the growing depth of our pool programme 💪 Beyond the results, our athletes carried themselves with respect, teamwork, and true sportsmanship.
