An evening of in person storytelling around the written and printed word and image will be held on Monday, September 21, during those last breaths of summer, with Allan Gibbons’ show up on the walls and you inside, should you choose to join us.

There is no real set structure for the evening, other than that everyone invited is incredibly dedicated to their craft. We think it is important, once in a while, to get people off the screen and into the room. That is why galleries and spaces like this exist. But they exist a lot better when people show up.

So, this is an open invitation. The event is free. There will be drinks. There will be 20 chairs. We probably will not begin until 6:30 or 6:45, so do not sweat it if you are lollygagging. Bring something soft to sit on, just in case.

We look forward to seeing you in person on Monday and sharing the recent publications of these keepers of the flame of tactile, tangible media. And let them be in conversation with each other around what it takes to accomplish each issue of their respective publications.

My students leave my class each semester with two bits of life advice. The first will remain a secret for those who’ve endured the gauntlet of community board meetings and local controversy stories. The second I’ll share for free:

That tidbit sparked the occasion for this wonderful assignment to contribute to @countyhwy ambitious collection of 250 Great American Things— edited by my star former student @gatheringmarbles and a crew of other patriots. It’s already been two months since the shop closed and these deserve a spot on the grid! I cannot thank you all enough for coming out to support everything that space was. The most extraordinary part of our wedding was that every person who helped create it was someone we already knew and loved.

Every meal, every drink, every song, every photograph was created by someone who has been part of our lives and our love story for years. It made the whole celebration feel infinitely more meaningful.

+ hundreds of collective hours spent by our friends and community members preparing our home for the occasion.

Years ago I realized that the North Star of my life was undoubtedly community. It was particularly moving to recognize that the years I have spent trying to build, support, and invest in community has returned to me the greatest gift imaginable: a group of people willing to pour their creativity, labor, generosity, and love into making each other’s dreams come true.
In the end, our wedding never really felt like it belonged to just Nico and me. It felt like a collective work of art—created by, and in celebration of, the community that has shaped our lives and our love.

i’m not gunna lie, i am truly loving my bridal era. not only does this wedding feel like the largest art installation of my life, but i am simultaneously basking in the abundance of intentional time shared with loved ones. i think those are my two favorite things in life: creativity and community. i can’t wait to share more soon :)

We done did it again, this year marking the completion of over half a decade living a full-spectrum experience here at Rainbow Creek Ranch.

So ya know, this place is named as such for several reasons: We hope to restore the land in support of returning rainbow trout to our watershed; you can find any color of stone you like in the creek, with all the chert and serpentine; and we each bring our own flavor to this space, in aspiring to be far from a monotone zone.

At this year’s end, we’re feeling such gratitude for all of the people and puppies and pleasantries that come with communal living here at the ridge, and we hold so much excitement for all that’s still yet to come. Thanks for taking the ride with us.
