🍁🍁OCTOBER edition of HATalk out today 🍁🍁

Autumn is finally here in the UK after a relatively long and hot summer.

That means relishing the falling leaves and the milder temperatures whilst embracing the seasonal transition to more earthy colours and textures.

You’ll find autumnal tones aplenty in this October edition of the magazine OUT TODAY.

👒Our Monthly Millinery Ana Lamata specialises in natural dyes as well as stunning floral forms

🧶We learn about working with knitted and felted wool with Sally Underwood from Om Pom Pom

🧙‍♀️We peek into the spellbinding world of Evercrumbly & Witch where Halloween is the busiest time of the year!

In addition, our regular columnists Martine Henry and Robert Gault touch on pre-made hat forms and children’s hats respectively, and we dip into vintage style at Goodwood as well as relish the Hattember winners’ designs.

All that and more!

So, settle down somewhere cosy for a good read 📚📚

One of the greatest surprises on this journey into hat making has been the people I’ve met along the way…makers and designers from around the world who have been incredibly generous with their knowledge, encouragement, and friendship.

On my way to Alaska, I stopped in Vancouver and finally met one of them in person. I shared a drink with him and his wife after many conversations from afar. He’s been a mentor in every sense, always willing to teach, answer questions and share his experience.

In a craft built on tradition, much of the knowledge is passed down over years of experience. That’s why I’m especially grateful for people like Robert Gault who choose to preserve the art while ensuring it continues. Thank you for all your generosity, my friend!

The fedora was a functional piece of accessory for men during the 1920s through the 1950s.
This was my the first piece that I had created with the help of my mentor @gaultrobert.
