This year didn’t arrive gently. It arrived with weight — long nights, tight budgets, unanswered emails, a wedding that never happened, and distance measured in borders instead of miles. I didn’t crumble. I adjusted my stance. I learned how to carry loss without making it my identity. Folded a future with steady hands and kept walking. My work permit was approved — a yes. Not relief, but confirmation. Permanent residency is still pending, but so is everything worth building. I’m here. I’m allowed to work. I’m earning my place in Canada with intention, not fear. This year asked for endurance. I answered with discipline. When rest felt earned, I chose consistency instead. I kept going. Not loudly. Not for applause. But with precision. Some days hope was strategy. Other days it was breath. Both counted. I shed illusions — about love, timing, certainty. What remained was discernment. The ability to walk away without bitterness and stay open without losing myself. And then there were people. Real ones. Humans who showed up clean, honest, steady. Who reminded me that integrity still exists even inside broken systems. Because of them, my faith didn’t weaken — it refined. This year tried to test me. It didn’t break me. It trained me. I’m still moving. Still building. Still becoming. And I move forward clear-eyed, grounded, hopeful — not because it was easy, but because I am strong and humanity is still worth believing in. #braindump #poetry
