Dear Cross Country,

From the moment I first laced up my shoes and won imaginary races at night, I knew I loved you. I gave you everything, my mind, body, spirit, and soul. And no matter what comes next, I’ll always be that kid with rolled-up socks, posters on the wall, an open road ahead, and a head full of dreams.

Our Blugold Athletes of the Week are Ryann Wagner and Gavin Stewart!

Running perhaps the best race of her Blugold career, Ryann Wagner finished 14th overall at the WIAC conference championships. Earning her first cross country All-Conference honor, she moved up throughout the race and ran a PR of 22:00! The senior has great momentum heading into the NCAA D3 North Region Championships next week!

Only a freshmen but racing like a veteran, Gavin Stewart finished 49th at conference as the top true freshman in the conference! His time of 25:26 puts him at number 4 all time for Blugold Freshmen. He’s cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with in the coming years!

This isn’t how I imagined my senior season would go. It’s hard to accept that things didn’t end the way I hoped — but looking back, I’m filled with nothing but gratitude. Ashland XC has given me so much more than medals or PRs ever could. It’s taught me discipline, perseverance, and what it means to show up even when it’s tough. Most importantly, it’s given me a family. To my teammates, coaches, and everyone who’s been part of this journey — thank you for every memory, every laugh, and every mile. I’ll always be proud to call myself an Oredocker.💜💛 1 season left, onto track 🔜
