OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Gracie Barra Southlake and Gracie Barra Coppell, our purpose goes beyond teaching Jiu-Jitsu. We believe in building a better world by taking care of people. For us, success is measured by the people we help grow.

We deeply respect the culture and values of the country we proudly call home. As immigrant owners, we know firsthand how hard it is to start a new life in a new place. That’s why a big part of what our school generates goes back into our professors and staff. We bring talented team members from here and around the world, and we give them full support to build their lives: housing, transportation, legal visa and green card sponsorship, ongoing training, and continuing education. When we take care of our team, they can grow, thrive, and take care of our students.

As locally owned small businesses in one of the most competitive areas of North Texas, it’s a big commitment, and we’re proud of it. Thanks to a community that shares these values, it’s possible.

Taking care of people, all people. Building a better world, together. That’s Gracie Barra.

🥋❤️ Always One Step Ahead!

At Gracie Barra Southlake, safety is just as important as training!

Our staff and some of our amazing students came together for CPR training because being prepared makes all the difference.

We’re always striving to go one step further to provide a safer environment for our entire GB family. ❤️

More than Jiu-Jitsu. We’re building a stronger, safer community! 💪

Jiu-Jitsu CON No-Gi 2026 🥉

Today, I won my first match by submission, and lost the second by points, finishing in 3rd place. Even so, it’s an incredible feeling and a huge accomplishment.

Only God and I know how hard I’ve been working, how much I’ve been visualizing this moment, and how badly I wanted it.

I want to thank everyone who has been following and supporting me throughout this journey. And a special thank you to everyone who has been helping me during my training and preparation.

Of course, I also want to thank the professionals who have been part of this process:

@edu.oliveira thank you for helping me with my strength and conditioning and keeping me in the best physical shape possible.

@victorfreipe thank you for taking care of my nutrition and keeping me fueled with an incredible diet throughout my preparation.

And thank you to everyone who has helped me in any way along the way. I’m truly grateful.

Most importantly, thank You, God, for keeping me healthy and allowing me to do what I love most.

And to all my students at Gracie Barra Coppell, thank you for always supporting me. This is for all of us.

Let’s keep going. On to the next one!

TEACH THEM TO THINK — NOT JUST TO FOLLOW. 🥋

One of the most important things we can teach our children is that following the crowd is not the same as making the right choice.

Peer pressure starts early.

Sometimes it looks harmless:
“Everyone is doing it.”
“Come on, just do it.”
“If you don’t, you’re not part of the group.”

But children who grow up believing they must follow others to be accepted can become adults who are afraid to think, question, choose, and stand for themselves.

At our academy, Jiu-Jitsu is about much more than learning techniques.

We want our kids to develop confidence, character, discipline, critical thinking, and the courage to make their own decisions.

We want them to understand:

You can respect your friends without following them.
You can belong without losing your identity.
You can disagree and still be kind.
You can stand alone and still be strong.

Teach children to ask:

Is this right?
Is this who I want to be?
Would I make this same decision if nobody else were doing it?

Because one day, we won’t be standing beside them to make the decision for them.

Our job is not to raise children who simply follow.

Our job is to raise strong, confident young people who know how to think for themselves.

That is leadership.
That is character.
That is one of the greatest lessons we can teach on and off the mats. 🥋❤️
