Wow!! Thank you to the amazing Tannum/Boyne/Gladstone/Calliope community for your incredible support of our version of Connor's Run!!
.
A brilliant (albeit very warm and humid 🥵) morning to walk and run for paediatric brain cancer research.
.
The vibes were high, some blistering paces from our younger runners, and plenty of yummy breakfast enjoyed by all 😁
.
An enormous thank you to all who helped and donated 💰 and breakfast contributions 🥓🍳🥖🧁🍰
- especially for the farm fresh eggs from Builyan residents, John Austen and Barb McKee 🫶
.
Finally tally to come - but somewhere around the $2000 mark 🥹💙💛🙏
.
Link to donate in bio if you missed the day.

Since its inception in 2013, Connor’s Run has become Australia’s largest event for paediatric brain cancer, celebrating and commemorating the life of Robert Connor Dawes who lost his battle with brain cancer at just 18 years of age.

7 years ago today Rory completed 68 weeks of chemotherapy to treat his brain cancer. Our good friend @eglintonnicole sent 68 balloons to celebrate 🥳
.
Feeling so very grateful that Rory hasn't required any further cancer treatment to date 🙏

With only 4 days to go until the official Connor's Run - now is the best opportunity to make your donation!
.
Donation matching is on again - so every dollar you donate is DOUBLED 🙌💙 We would love to get to $5000 this year 🫶
.
Rory is back in Brisbane today for more appointments, check ups and tests. Because even though he was diagnosed over 8 years ago, and has been off treatment for over 6, brain cancer is the gift that never ends.
.
We have 17 people in our team - not too late to join in the fun! Link in bio and story 💛🩵

This is Carly!

Carly came on board as a JSPP athlete in October 2025 in our first month of operation. Carly first got back into the sport after a big break and has had to juggle some of the most challenging circumstances! She takes on every training session with a positive attitude and continues to push herself to find ways to overcome and adapt to these challenges!

Her progression in be sport over the past 9 months has been very inspiring!

Due to her commitment and passion for performance Carly has now been selected to represent Australia and take on her first Para Triathlon World Cup this weekend in Besancon (France) along side her guide Gemma Berry!

We wish Carly and Gemma all the very best for this Saturdays Para World Cup!

We are so grateful for the funding and support Rory receives from the @ndis_australia the schools, the various charities, the education vision centre.....
.
But this comes at a price. To access this funding you must itemise every single fault, issue, struggle and emotionally challenging moment they have ever had.
.
The first time we had to do this was with the primary school, during covid, over a zoom meeting. We met with the school to write an application for funding for extra support for Rory as a child with a disability. Even acknowledging that our son has a disability was a really tough thing to accept.
.
But then to score about 50 different tasks with a number out of 5 as to how severe these challenges were was heartbreaking. We were advised to think of Rory on "his worst day" so that he might receive enough funding to give him a better chance at a "fair" life. I was left in tears and emotionally wrecked afterwards 😢
