It's been a long time since I enjoyed the sunset on campus, it was magnificent... I spent such a long time preoccupied with obligations and worry that I nearly forgot how beautiful she really is. I love orange so much 🥹🧡 #aggielobolove #newdress💫 #youquackmeupducky #sunsetmagic #thehallwayisaportalsochooseyourdirectionwisely🍁

Episode 5 - Hi Divaaaaaa! Is out now!
It wasn’t until I finished watching this wonderful episode with @tasha_heart_ that I realized why it felt so special to me, and why I felt so nervously excited to get to have such a heart to heart with her.
Growing up, I was constantly surround by amazing, talented and incredible women, the women who poured their souls into raising me. Women who faced every adversity life could throw at them with love, light and kindness. All in an effort to help me succeed and to go into life with a smile and a big heart. My mom, my grandmas, my aunty. They all showed me so many different ways to be a successful woman and how to change lives around you with the simplest breadths of words.
In college, I met so many more women who fundamentally shaped who I’ve become today. Women I admire, women I’ve laughed, cried with, women I’ve lost and women who now look to my footsteps. Sisters, friends. Femme, masc. butch. non binary. Straight, queer. so many different people from different paths laying stones on mine for me to walk.
When I started performing, it was the lesbians who saw the potential in me, and it was the lesbians encouraging me to continue to shine bright as Carly Quinn. I hope I still make you all proud 🥹❤️
All that being said, this episode means so much to me, and I’m so happy for you to enjoy!! (Ofc so many more beautiful people in my life I wish I could include in my slideshow!!)

Still thinking about the incredible opening of “The Rest Is Drag” at @516_arts. Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated. There are so many incredible artists in the exhibitions and it was really special to see these queer histories and stories I’ve been researching, collecting, shared with the community.

This work brings together stories of New Mexico drag, from legends like Kenny Chavez and “The Honeybees” to incredible and talented @gemmarhoid, @easyavery, and @jotoantics, connecting generations of performers, chosen family, and community.

Grateful to curator @olivia.amayaortiz for creating a space where queer histories can be seen as an important part of Route 66 and New Mexico’s greater cultural history.

The exhibition is on view through October 10.

I’ve had the privilege of documenting New Mexico drag performers in their spaces, where the work is made before it reaches the stage. Like how artists are often photographed in their studios, surrounded by the tools and materials that shape their work. These are the places where costumes are assembled, wigs are styled, and makeup is applied.

Featured here is 🖤 @gemmarhoid 🖤 This portrait is currently on view at @516_arts ARTS through October as part of “The Rest is Drag”, curated by @olivia.amayaortiz

We have two contenders who have regularly proven why they deserve these two spots. These two contenders will be competing for $1000 cash, a crown, and a sponsored photo shoot by the catwalk collective.
