✨ Create. Reflect. Connect. Build community. ✍️🎨🌿

Join us for our monthly Community Creative Space in partnership with @cpp_oies, bringing together Cal Poly Pomona students, faculty, staff, and members of the Pomona community for creativity, reflection, connection, and community care. 💛

Hosted by Cal Poly Pomona’s Office of Interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies, this series centers bell hooks’ love ethic, a framework rooted in love, care, and community, while drawing from Ethnic Studies practices that center community needs through an intersectional lens.

Participants are invited to gather, write, exchange ideas, work independently, connect with others, or begin something new in a welcoming shared space grounded in wellness, healing, and community care. ✨

Come as you are, bring a project or simply bring yourself, and make space to create in community. 🤝

During Spring Break, AANHPI Initiatives and the Department of Ethnic and Women’s Studies brought our students to ✈️O`ahu, Hawai`i to learn firsthand about Kānaka Maoli culture through field trips and service learning. The first stop was 📍Iolani Palace, where we learned about the Hawaiian monarchy. During the audio tour, the students heard about the lives, governance, and cultural contributions of Hawaiian monarchs including King Kamehameha I and Queen Lili`uokalani.

Stay tuned for more recaps of this AANHPI Initiatives: Hawai`i trip 🌺

Want to learn more? The students will be presenting about their experiences and research projects at the GEMS Symposium on April 23. Go to our pinned post to RSVP ✅!
