#artistinfocus Brent Hallard's series of paintings titled Orb are clean and precise geometric square forms showing the interplay between the material and the spiritual, the structured and the fluid. These artworks are inviting us to contemplate the power of form, colour, and symbolism, and connect with their deeper symbolic significance.

Brent Hallard is an Australian-born abstract artist, curator, and writer whose works on paper and aluminum explore minimalist iconography and monochromatic expressions. His work is deeply rooted in the fundamentals of art history, especially building on the tendencies of abstraction, minimalism, and color field theories. Working with themes of space and geometry, he manipulates images and challenges the viewer's perception.

"Golden Orb 8 and 9 explore the delicacy of chromatic shifts within a golden field, recalling Josef Albers’ insistence that colour never exists alone but only in relation. Both paintings radiate a soft yet pervasive glow, their nested squares drawing the eye inward while holding an ambient warmth across the surface. In Orb 8, the yellow core reads as distinct and clarified — a box within a box, held steady by the surrounding mustards. In Orb 9, the introduction of a pink core gently unsettles the harmony, its edges diffusing into the ochres, producing a more atmospheric transition. What emerges is less a fixed opposition than a spectrum of perception, where clarity and dissolution coexist, revealing how small shifts reverberate across the whole." Opening Friday November 14 in Project Space 4 is “Colour Orbs” by Brent Hallard:

Why call them Orbs?

Though made of nested squares, these paintings carry the presence of an orb: something luminous, concentrated, and otherworldly. The square acts as the structure, the container, while the colour fields create the sense of depth and radiance we usually associate with a glowing sphere. By naming these works Orbs, the artist (the work) invites us to see beyond rigid edges into a more fluid, spiritual space where colour itself becomes light.

While in Sydney I got to see ABORA 4 at Articulate project space. Great show curated by Beata Geyer. So lovely to be amongst such inspiring Artists.

LIVING ROOM WITH ATTITUDE⁠

Relaxed, sculptural and a little unexpected, this living space sets the pace for Bluebell House.⁠ Wrapped in a playful hue and unapologetically sculptural, the @jardanfurniture Ridley armchair leads the way - relaxed, confident, and full of charm.⁠

From there, it was all about comfort and shape. The @spacefurniture Tufty Time offered the modular flexibility we needed for the narrow footprint, while the Undique Mas coffee table by Kartell brought in a softer edge and a sense of ease.⁠
⁠
The final layer? A touch of mood and glow, thanks to lighting from Foscarini @spacefurniture - just enough to lift the space and keep things interesting after dark.⁠
