Remember that orange dining table? 🍊 If you’ve been following along, the final chapter is finally here!

Stripping, staining, reupholstering, painting those detailed chair legs, and sealing the top. This one came with plenty of lessons, but the BIGGEST? Not all clear coats are created equal.

After all the work I put into this table, I went with @generalfinishes Finishes High Performance Topcoat, and WOW. No bubbles, no brush lines, just a beautiful finish. It was a dream to work with, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to big-box poly!

Three and a half weeks later, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. ✨

I really got lucky when I stumbled across two old pine dressers from the same sweet farm. And even luckier that they couldn’t have been more different. The first was full of warm, orange tones, while this one revealed the prettiest light, natural pine with SO much character. 😍

Knots, nails heard, marks, dings, all of the little imperfections just adds to the charm that makes this absolutely perfect!

And the best part of all? The lovely woman who purchased the first pine dresser happened to see me working on this one, and asked if she could have this when it was finished. So both dressers from the same farm are off to the same new home. 🥹🤍

Well, this was a first for me! 😅

When I picked up this mid-century dresser, two of the original wooden pulls were missing. And replacing all of them with new hardware just wasn’t something I wanted to do.

So I figured, why not try making them myself?

Now, I’ve never carved wooden pulls like this before, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t have all the proper tools for the job. But with my Japanese pull saw, a few chisels, some sanding, and a whole lot of patience, I gave it a shot!

And would you believe it? The first one actually turned out pretty darn close to the original! The second one? Took me about half the time. Go figure! 😂

I’m certainly not claiming to be a woodcarver, but I’m pretty proud of how these turned out!

Sometimes you’ve just gotta work with what you’ve got and see what happens.

Would you have attempted this, or just replaced all the hardware?

And if you want to see how the entire dresser turned out, the full restoration process will be over on my YouTube channel soon!

Did you know there’s a water-based stain that does THIS?! 😳
raw pine → aged walnut. no oil-based mess, no fumes, cleanup is just water.
This is my go-to when I want that weathered, collected look without paying walnut prices 🤎
📌 save this for your next flip or shelf build — you will forget about it otherwise (ask me how I know 🙃)

Well, this dresser has come a LONG way! 🤎

I’m not gonna lie, this one definitely tested my skills! Between the missing wooden pulls, damaged veneer, and that laminate top, I had my work cut out for me.

But you know me, I’m not one to shy away from a challenge!

Here’s what went into this restoration:

• Stripped and sanded the old finish
• Recreated the missing wooden pulls on the bottom two drawers using chisels and lots of patience!
• Replaced and blended the damaged veneer on the side
• Applied new walnut veneer directly over the existing laminate top
• Stained with a custom mix of @generalfinishes Antique Walnut and Nutmeg
• Used @mohawkfinishing Blendal sticks and Walnut Brown toner to blend the veneer repair
• Sealed everything with a protective satin topcoat

I have to say, recreating those wooden pulls was probably my favorite part! I wasn’t even sure I could do it, but I’m so glad I gave it a shot.

Is it perfect? Nope. But I’m pretty darn happy with how it turned out!

What do you think? Was this one worth saving?
