OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 🥣

👩‍🍳 midday craving struck for a cookie (or, let’s be real, cookie dough). I had oats I had chocolate chips so this is the outcome!! I used @genevieve_ko ‘s recipe on the @nytcooking app, but subbed brown sugar for monk fruit sugar (I’m trying to finish my bag) and didn’t have milk so went without. Turned out very tasty and delightfully chewy. I recommend topping w some flaky sea salt 🥰

🎧 max played this little @brunello_mellowcircus number during his laissez faire set last weekend that I lasted a whole 45 mins at but this caught my ear. I now have been listening this whole week. It’s giving strutting down the sidewalk outside of my soho apartment as I go to buy another overpriced daily Diet Coke from the bodega 💅

Baking rewards precision, but some of the most memorable desserts begin with something that didn’t go according to plan!

We’re excited to welcome @genevieve_ko kick off The Bake Fest as our opening Keynote speaker.

In her keynote, The Sweet Side of Mistakes, Genevieve shares what years of developing, testing, editing, and troubleshooting recipes have taught her about the creative power of mistakes.

She’ll explore how baking disasters can become useful information, revealing what a recipe needs, what a baker understands, and where something new might be hiding.

Rather than treating mistakes as failures, Genevieve will show how understanding the fundamentals gives bakers the confidence to ask better questions, make smart adjustments, and transform unexpected results into stronger techniques and more original ideas.

If you’ve ever pulled something from the oven and thought, “Well, now what?” this keynote will give you a new way to look at the space between disaster and discovery.

What does it say about me that the first recipe I’d make from a book called Veg Everything was Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberry Maple Syrup? I mean, not a veg in sight. Chalk it up to always having wanted to make them, and this was a very good recipe. Maybe it was the desire to feed my guests something they normally would pay $30 bucks for at an LA brunch spot. Maybe I have an uncanny ability to flip open almost any cookbook and get inspired to build a menu around an idea. And so it was a couple weekends ago when I hosted my daughter, niece and a couple of their friends for a Sunday lunch. Frittata and chicken sausages and Lillet spritzes rounded out the table, but thank goodness I doubled this recipe because the pancakes were the STAR of the show. Fluffy and lemony and crispy and pillowy. Just as God intended. Don’t sleep on the Blueberry Maple Syrup either. Out of season, you can always use frozen. Use any extra on toast or over ice cream ‘cause it’s delightful.

These beauties are a recipe from @genevieve_ko from Veg Everything, the latest compilation cookbook from @nytcooking, brilliantly put together by the editor behind The Veggie there, @tanyasic. As a longgggtime subscriber to the @nytcooking app, you might think I wouldn’t need this book, but let me tell you, the site is great but has gazillions of recipes. This puts 100 non-meat ideas right in front of you. Book comes out Tuesday and wait till you see what I post then! YUM! Thank you to @tenspeedpress for my advance copy. Overhead shot 📷 @anthearosenbaum who always has me covered.

Good food, good friends, and conversations ranging from bronzers and color seasons to death, the pursuit of happiness, and burn out. Now that’s female friendship. (With a side of honey butter pancakes for dessert)

Charred Corn and Cheese Salad, recipe by Elijah G. Deleon, adapted by Genevieve Ko, from The New York Times Cooking website/ app. Kernels of fresh corn are charred, combined with an aioli sauce of Dijon mustard, minced garlic, lime juice, egg yolk, and olive oil, and served with crumbled queso fresco, chopped chives, and sliced green peppers. This refreshing salad is inspired by esquites, the Mexican street food. I used vegetables from our wonderful CSA @longtablefarmct in Lyme, Connecticut. It is from this website/ app which is a useful source for recipes that are easily searchable by ingredient or type of dish @eiaeeo @genevieve_ko @nytcooking @nytimes #corn #esquites #aioli #quesofresco #csa

Lemon-Garlic Grilled Chicken Breast, recipe by Genevieve Ko on New York Times Cooking website/ app and in the paper’s print edition on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Boneless chicken breast is marinated in a mixture of lemon juice and zest, grated garlic, olive oil, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper, grilled with more marinade, sliced when done, and served with a garnish of sprouts. The delicious crunchy sprouts have been a favorite from our inspiring CSA @longtablefarmct in Lyme, Connecticut. Another great inspiration for recipe ideas is this website/ app and the full-page of dishes for the week ahead in Saturday’s New York Times @genevieve_ko @nytcooking @nytimes #chicken #chickenmarinade #lemonchicken #grilledchicken #csa
