Throwback Thursday to a once in a lifetime honour ✨

My team and I had the incredible privilege of becoming the first and only bakery ever invited to create a cake for the Valastro family outside of Carlo’s Bake Shop.

While @buddyvalastro was in town filming and making TV appearances, we were chosen to create the cakes for his appearances and by perfect timing, it was also his son’s birthday.

His agent trusted us to bring a coral reef dream to life for a very special celebration held at @mortonssteak Toronto 🐠🌊🎂

Moments like this remind me how powerful passion, artistry, and hard work truly are. Forever grateful for opportunities that feel this surreal 💫

Hello!

This is me, Genevieve, the face behind these cake creations.

I studied business and communication in university and thought I’d have a career in banking and finance.

Well, that all changed after I took my first cake class in my late 20’s!

I found my passion and have worked tirelessly to improve my skills over the years.

I started my cake business in 2008 and owned a very busy and successful retail bakery in downtown Toronto but got burnt out of being in the city.

In 2019 I sold that bakery and moved out to the country for a change in pace.

I am grateful for all of the exposure and experiences being in the big city gave me but I’m happy to now be here, in Eastern Ontario, continuing to create edible works of art.

My thrift karma is so hot right now that I got two stunning dresses in one when I bought this Mulberry marvel last week. The colour is divine and I actually think I prefer the slip than the dress itself which is lace, sleeveless and in the same colour. I will style it soon and we can confer on which is the most fabulous 💋❤️.

I am getting Studio 54 from this look but want to know if you are.

Fit details
Mulberry slip, part of lace dress worn as dress, @zara thrifted @oxfammalahide
Rainbow wedge sandals thrifted #enableirelandfinds

I realized that I never posted this cake I created for the cast party of The Admirable Crichton last spring!

Playing the leading lady role of Lady Mary in this @ngctheatre production was a great experience and to thank the cast and crew I recreated our set in cake form.

At the cast party each of the cast members got little edible replicas of their props from the show.
