Wooden bowls made in Bristol by @geoffhannis

All Geoffs work is tool-finished using a foot-powered lathe. His wood comes from locally sourced trees and is turned whilst still green resulting in slightly oval bowls, which occurs during the drying process. Different woods behave in different ways when drying, so sometimes this movement will be minimal, sometimes fairly drastic.

A week has passed since @apfexhibition 2026 - and what a way to (almost) end the show season for us. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and said hello 🌿

Amidst the scale of some of the machinery of commercial forestry, it’s so lovely to see such a meaningful space dedicated to small woodland management and woodland crafts area at the event.

It was a real pleasure to share the space with our friends at @aptgw_bodgers , @woodland_pioneers , @coppicenw and so many other amazing craftspeople from across the UK, showcasing the important role that coppice workers, bodgers, basket makers, blacksmiths and other heritage craftspeople play within our shared woodland ecosystem.

Here’s just a small selection of some of the incredible craftspeople and skills that were there 🌳

Come down to our end of show gathering, which is not actually the end! We will still be in the space until Wednesday the 30th but thought it would be a good excuse to hang out, chat wood and be nerds. Come down and hang out, bring your own snacks and drinks. We are open everyday 10-6pm so if you want to come any other time then you are very welcome.

Geoff Hannis and I have had the most incredible time over the last 3 days in Grandas de Salime, Asturias, bugging Arturo Iglesias with a million questions. We’re blown away by his skill and so grateful for his patience! Muchos muchos gracias Arturo! And a huge thank you to @turners.company.of.london for making this all possible

A few years ago I started replacing items I use on a daily basis with items that I either know who the maker is, by making them myself or more sustainable life time lasting items from companies I have a personal connection to. I’m on the lookout for some forged cutlery next! I will be heading to the @oakfair1 tomorrow to see what delights are on offer, let me know if you are going and let me know what your favourite item you have from a maker! #handmadeswaps #sustainability #maker#handmade
