Wife to @brendanrmcmahon
Mom to Mabel (5) and twin boys, Wright (2) and Brendan(2).

Having a community to workout with is so important. It creates a fun and healthy lifestyle instead of just an hour of work you feel you have to do. I look forward to joining athletes of similar mindsets but varying athletic backgrounds to push myself to be better! I actually miss the gym now when I can’t make it.

My gym partner, Erin, former college gymnast, inspires me to be better in all of the gymnastics components I struggle with.

Favorite indulgence is cream cheese brownies!

I used to focus strictly on my kids when I went to workout. I want to be strong for them so I can live and play with them for as long as physically possible. My focus has shifted a little over the past year to taking care of myself not only for them but for me. I’ve been pushing boundaries to see what I can physically and mentally achieve. It’s pretty powerful to achieve physical demands you didn’t think we’re possible. Next up, a muscle-up!

When things go wrong I think of my son Brendan. He underwent 11 surgeries before his first birthday. If he can survive that, I can do anything!

Favorite quote: The best is yet to come.

Thank You to all sponsors, volunteers, event participants, and donors who supported this year’s MD Turbines Foundation 2nd Annual Veteran’s Day Fundraiser & Relay Challenge in support of our Veteran community.

We donated over $11,000.00 to Healing Paws For Warriors saving the lives of 2 Sevice dogs and 2 Veterans suffering with PTSD & TBI.

Thank You again to our aviation family for coming together to make this event happen. We couldn’t do it without you!

Unless you walk in someone else’s shoes, you really cannot begin to imagine what another person is dealing with. It is a gift when you listen to someone as they entrust you with telling their story. The following interview gave our CEO/Editor-in-Chief @lisamburwell a much deeper understanding and respect for our veterans, and we hope you will be as moved as we were when you read the story of @geoffspeyrer. DARKNESS...

That's how I got to where I am. I spent years in the dark, struggling, battling addiction, battling demons.

I lost who I was after coming home from Iraq.

Have you ever gone through something so tough that it beat you to your knees?

Have you ever lost something or someone so close to you that you just couldnt wait to see them again?

I have... and I've also taken the chance and tried to meet them on several occasions.

My perspective was off. I was wrong for going that route. I'm very grateful that I came out of those situations. At the time I wasnt. I was angry when I woke up in ICU. I dont fear death. I never did.

Fast forward

Had I not been brought back you wouldnt be reading this. I wouldnt have to opportunity to touch the lives that i have. I wouldnt have had the opportunity to reach the mentality that i have.

My story would have ended right there.

Give everything you have to what you are involved in. You deserve to be proud of what you can accomplish. You as a human have the ability to make choices and decide what you do with your life. I wasted so many years living a pity party feeling sorry for myself.

Incarceration was a blessing to me it woke me up. I'm putting everything I have into this life.

What if you gave it all you got??

What if you reached your goals?

What if you just suffered a little longer?

What if you trained or studied a little longer?

What if you gave a little more effort?

I'm here to show you, I'm here to help you believe in yourself!

Im willing to push myself so hard that I stop breathing to see exactly how much I'm capable of. To see what if...I just gave it a little bit more. This isnt just about me. This is about you too. Dont give up. I wont. Let's GO!

DIE FIRST....THEN QUIT!!!

Love yall!!

Like the days of fireside chats and radio dramas, listening to entertainment has become cool again. If you’re into educational topics, motivational speaking, science fiction, celebrities, movies and TV, or literally anything else, there’s probably a podcast about it—and listening is free for most of them. In 2020, the creators of VIE embarked on a new adventure to make VIE Speaks: Conversations with Heart & Soul. This podcast series features our CEO and editor-in-chief, @lisamburwell, hosting guests at VIE HQ and chatting about various topics. Each guest is an expert in his or her field, and each conversation is an entirely unscripted look into a different brilliant and beautiful mind. Click the #linkinbio to learn more about building the VIE lifestyle in our January 2021 Commemorative Issue.
