Q: One beauty product you wear daily? A: SPF, which is now Multi-Hyphenate. Q: The one thing you refused to compromise on when creating Multi-Hyphenate? A: The way the bottle feels in your hand, the way the formula looks on your skin, and the way it improves your skin over time. Q: A beauty trend you’re happy to see retire? A: Heavy, full-coverage foundation. Q: What’s one beauty rule you don’t follow? A: I’m okay with aging naturally, which sort of feels like breaking the rules these days? Q: Most nostalgic beauty product? A: Hard Candy nail polishes and eyeshadows! The chokehold they had on me. Q: The best piece of beauty advice you’ve ever received? A: This sounds a little silly, but when I was 24, someone told me to try not to move my forehead so much when I talked and that I’d thank her when I was in my 40s. Well, turns out, I do thank her! Being mindful of repetitive facial expressions has certainly made a difference for me. Q: Biggest beauty muse? A: Cindy Crawford, always has been and always will be. Q: One beauty product you wear daily? A: A good SPF. Multi-Hyphenate most days. Q: The one thing you refused to compromise on when creating Multi-Hyphenate? A: Too long of a list but here are a few: Tint that's sheer enough to see skin, glow that doesn't sparkle, true brightening skincare and mineral SPF that is actually lightweight. Q: A beauty trend you’re happy to see retire? A: A heavy, full-coverage base that sits on top of your skin. Q: What’s one beauty rule you don’t follow? A: That bronzer can't be used to contour. Q: Most nostalgic beauty product? A: Toss up between Mac Spice lip liner and Lancome Juicy Tubes. Q: The best piece of beauty advice you’ve ever received? A: Take care of your skin first. Makeup sits better on it.

I used to test products with someone else’s face in mind. These days, I get to be a little more selfish with my skin (thank you to the editors still sacrificing their complexions for the greater good). Once a beauty editor, always a beauty editor. I bring the discerning eye, ingredient knowledge, and healthy skepticism of a career spent separating good formulations from good marketing. I usually know what’s worth my time and yours. Here’s what earned a spot in this month’s rotation. Read and subscribe for the full rundown: what I loved, what I liked, and what I could do without. I might be semi-retired from testing for the greater good, but not from having opinions. The @ssklabs_ Kit 01 is an invitation to play and includes a spray eau de parfum and two fragrance oils. The signature spray is an incredible balance of gourmand (vanilla), floral (peppercorn), and spice (saffron). AM-O (Tonka) is so warm and cozy and it immediately makes me picture someone dressed impossibly chic. Think cinnamon, ginger, clary sage, and sandalwood. And AM-O (Myrrh) is SO sexy, but in a way that isn’t obvious. The pairing of lemongrass, cumin (such a clever addition), amber, and benzoin is unexpected and completely addictive. @katiejanehughes made the genius decision to keep her brand’s @kjh.brand mascara wand petite. It makes it easy to reach every lash, define each one, and add a little curl in the process. My lashes are very straight, so when I applied it to half of one eye, I actually said, Whoa, out loud. I get my nails professionally done with regular polish once a month, then maintain them myself weekly. But polishing isn’t even my worst skill. It’s my cuticles. Until this @buff.beautyco cuticle pen. It makes me feel like a pro, which somehow makes me feel more human and put together. I love having my nails done, but hate getting them done, so thank god for this. I know, I know, I’ve said before: if a product is a makeup-skincare hybrid, it’s still makeup. But the amazing founders of @carteblanchebeauty @itssarahtallman and @gerihirsch, told me that they’ve flipped the script. A little late to post this, but some things deserve more than a quick congrats. And this is one of them… Last summer, I was catching up with my dear friend @gerihirsch poolside in beautiful Santa Ynez, and she shared the name and vision for what she was building: @carteblanchebeauty. I remember getting actual goosebumps. Because if you know Geri, you know… Her taste is impeccable. Her standards are borderline unreasonable (in the best way possible). And her ability to obsess over every last detail, from formulation and efficacy to packaging and the entire experience of a brand, is something I’ve admired for years. I knew whatever she was building would be exceptional. Getting to watch her bring that vision to life has been such a joy. And getting asked to be part of the launch campaign was an incredible honor (especially coming from someone who has championed me and my work since long before @perelelhealth was even an idea). And can we talk about the actual product?! Multi-Hyphenate is aptly named because it really does do it all. A gorgeous, glowy skin tint, SPF 35, and actual skincare benefits, including vitamin C + other actives designed to help improve hyperpigmentation and make your skin look gorg. It’s makeup that makes your skin look incredible now while doing something good for it long term. (Also, big hell yes to fewer steps.) It has genuinely become my new favorite. And I’m not just saying that because I love the woman behind it. All this is to say, there is something so special about watching a woman you adore build something extraordinary. Especially when you know how much thought, courage, work, and heart went into getting it out into the world. Geri, so damn proud of you! What a privilege to have you in my orbit, to learn from you, and to cheer you on in this next chapter. Now everyone, go meet your new favorite face product. Trust. 🖤

Turning 45 this week, and wow by the time you reach my age, the seasons of life feel like they’re flying by in seconds! Sooooooo as a birthday 🎁 to me all I ask is that you promise to savor them! 🙏 Go have some freakin fun already! Get outside. Take the trip. Celebrate your wins. Be present with the people you love. 🍓 Prep these overnight oats with Strawberry Fruit Spread the night before, and enjoy a wholesome, ready-to-go breakfast for the whole family. 🍓 Full Recipe Below Ingredients: ¼ cup vanilla coconut yogurt ¾ cup old-fashioned rolled oats 1 tbsp chia seeds 1 tsp maple syrup 1 cup vanilla almond milk 1 tsp St. Dalfour Strawberry Fruit Spread How to make: 1. Mix coconut yoghurt, oats, chia seeds, maple syrup, and almond milk. 2. Spoon a thin layer of strawberry fruit spread at the bottom of your jar or dish. 3. Layer the oat mixture on top and refrigerate overnight. 4. Top with whipped coconut cream (optional) and fresh strawberries.
