Off to a great start this outdoor season with a new School and Freshman record!!

Congratulations Shannon on breaking a 24 year old Triple Jump record set by our very own Hall of Famer and former Women's Head Coach Quanette Ford. Her jump also broke a 22 year old freshman record set by Amy Donovan.

Her jump is a personal best and is also an NCAA Div II provisional mark.

Have yourself a Merry Christmas ❤️💚

Blessed to have hosted our family last weekend for a beautiful fun filled, memory-making weekend filled with so much love. My heart is full & forever grateful. Missing my dad this holiday season but feel his presence, daily and definitely while together this weekend.

What a great girls weekend with my favorite Queens. A friendship that started with weekly dollar $1 🌮. We may be miles apart but our friendship is still strong!

Staying true to yourself is the best gift to YOUrself. Thanks for that reminder sis @laurenlondon.

It’s the holidays…a busy and fun time. A time we gather with family & friends, eat a lot, drink more and be #merry. It’s also a time where I tend to get distracted and “off track” more easily with my #workoutroutine and somewhat healthy eating. My goals seem to #stretched and I become more lax. I’ve made a #commitment to myself to stay the course this #holidayseason

Staying #authentic to myself is my #goal and I’m doing just that starting with my workouts.

✨vulnerable post✨
Up to early last year I was pushing 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ pounds more than that I was suffering from fatigue, couldn’t climb steps 🪜, spending money buying bigger sizes, and just overwhelmingly not feeling good about myself. Something had to change…. My mental, physical, and emotional health was suffering. At a point @get_fitwithq joined my team and inspired me for what was possible. I started working out 🏋🏾‍♀️at a pace that made me feel good, then hiking trails 🧗‍♀️and moved up to riding bikes. 🚴🏾‍♀️Lucy and me love being outdoors near water 🌊or in the woods 🌱🌱. Now at 1️⃣7️⃣3️⃣ pounds but more importantly feeling physically, mentally, emotionally better than I have in a very long time. Best of all I did it without worrying about who was coming, watching or cheering for me! As a result, I’m experiencing freedom in other areas of my life and 👀👀👀 for what’s coming next! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

My fitness and health journey has been a very personal one for me for several years now.

Vulnerable Moment: Ever since I can remember — from being a kid I struggled with body image issues, to now being an adult and having my beautiful babies — I still struggle. My body has gone through changes that have been tough, yet the most rewarding. This year I’ve vowed to myself to put me first, starting with my wellness journey — healing my mind, body and spirit. I’m happy to say I’m doing it. I’m showing up for myself in ways I never thought I would and being consistent.

Note to self (and you): Continue to push yourself — you are worth it, your kids and family are worth it — you deserve it! Working out daily has changed my life in so many ways. Stay committed - no matter what! 💪🏾

Fitness has never been my strong suit — but I’m committed to the process and have made a pact with myself and my family that I’m going to keep at it. I’ve been working with a fitness coach - hey Coach Q (@get_fitwithq) who is helping me reach my goals. I’ve also learned that it’s more mind over matter. Show up, tired and all…but YOU are worth it. I AM WORTH IT.

Last weekend was a #vibe

There has been a lot of discussion lately about Diversity Equity & Inclusion. IMO any initiative tied to equity has to include a tie to the redistribution of wealth and financial power to Black communities which have been systematically blocked from achieving financial equity.

The concept of normalizing Black luxury is specifically important to me because it has a direct tie to diversifying spaces where everyday Black people exist but are not often shown.

It’s hard to convince any child to value a college education or professional trade, when the only people they see living a life of “luxury” are the 1% of people on TV…many of whom celebrate the fact that they either dropped out of college or never finished high school.

“Luxury” looks different for everyone. For me it looks like having the opportunity to surround myself with people that I love at any time that I choose. Not everyone has that luxury. I remember when I didn’t have this luxury. Now I just thank God and celebrate that I do.

How do you define luxury, financial freedom, and equity?

Anyhow…I said all that to say that last weekend was a #vibe filled with #blackgirlmagic I was stuck in the moment and did not get good pics or videos.

But, I’ll tag a few of the phenomenal women that I was blessed to share space with during this past weekends Black Opulence Xperience.

Please visit @blackopulencexperience for a visual summary of the weekend 💖
