Please help us welcome our next SFUPS virtual monthly meeting presenter, Kolin Hansen @getting_salty_ presenting to us on “Underwater Filmmaking in British Columbia”.

Kolin is an underwater filmmaker based on Vancouver Island, BC. He is obsessed with the ocean and the incredible marine life that lives in our cold, dark waters. He loves finding often overlooked critters, capturing their personalities, and sharing a glimpse of a world most people never get to see.

Kolin is passionate about capturing and sharing the beauty of the animals that often go unnoticed, from tiny, colourful nudibranchs to some of the larger, more curious characters like Giant Pacific Octopus and the ever playful Sea Lions all of which call these waters home.

In this presentation, Kokin will take you into his world of underwater filmmaking in BC, sharing his experiences, favourite critters to film, and the techniques he uses to bring their stories to life. We’ll cover everything from filming tips and tricks to the editing process, exploring how we can go beyond simply capturing an animal on camera and create something that gives people a whole new appreciation for the incredible life beneath the surface.

Join us for a fun evening with Kolin discussing underwater videography in Vancouver and all of its beauty! All are welcome to join, members and non members alike. Our Zoom session will open at 6:45pm EST with our meeting beginning promptly at 7pm EST.

Summer solstice weekend done right with a house full of good friends, good dogs, and staying cool in the water ☀️

Indy may be our most classic Husky, but he’s a natural swimmer! It was all fun and games until the tide came in and he was suddenly “stranded” in knee deep surf 🫣

Despite multiple demonstrations by Sully, he eventually had to be lifted off the rock before returning to swimming.

Feeling very lucky to live in paradise.

Happy 10-year adoptaversary Kora!

Hard to believe it’s already been a decade with our gangly awkward gal!
