Happy National Puppy Day!!! If you haven’t noticed... I’m a dog person 🐾💖 Some of my first stitchmarkers were of my hounds, then I started making a few for fiber lovers with special pups in their lives just for fun. Because I’m weird like that and like to randomly brighten peoples day for no reason other than I wanted to make the thing and thought they might like it. And of course there was the big Designers Dogs collab last year with @knittedwit @handworksnw and a pack of puppy loving pattern designers... and then puppy paw fabric... yeah. I love dogs, even more than yarn 💖💖💖

1st of April 2021.
I played lucky dip with my trouser box this morning and these came out. The t shirt came from a drawer and the sparkly knit was on the floor. One shoe came from under the bed and the the other was on the shoe stand in the hall. I’m not sure how this happened. Necklace is the finishing touch that possibly elicited the surprised ‘you look very smart this morning’ reaction. Hello April! #shopmywardrobe

The plan was to spend 2020 and beyond photographing more of what’s around me and that included people.

One of those people I kick myself for not having more photos of, is Nancy. One of my favorite yarnistas in NYC and the interwebs. Whenever we met she was always so full of joy and excitement about whatever was going on at the time, be it some yarn adventure, what projects we were working on, or just life in general. Usually, she was busy working at Knitty City and I didn’t want to disturb her. She always was ready to take a picture of our FOs, but I never thought to ask her to join in the photo. Whoops.

Happy Birthday, Nancy! I know things lately have been absolute trash for you, but I wish you peace, rest, more joy, excitement and the hope that this too, shall pass.♥️🤗

Have I convinced you to knit a sweater yet? First pic is my 2020 stack, second pic is what I’ve made in 2021 so far!

I started knitting sweaters with super bulky knits, since they work up so quickly, but I have found that I actually *wear* the sweaters knit with thinner yarn more. They fit under my coats better, are less heavy on my shoulders (I often experience neck/shoulder pain from poor posture, too much knitting, etc. and heavy shirts feel like they’re weighing my shoulders down). So even though they take longer to make, it’s my preference now as I’ve learned more!

Fringe! I’ve had a life-long love affair with all things fringe. When I was about 16 my most treasured possession was a turquoise leather fringe jacket. I was so upset when it got stolen from my car! I tried to replace it but it no longer existed. I still think about that jacket.

The second I saw this design by Nancy Ricci @gettingpurlywithit I HAD to knit it. I was so happy when she accepted me as a test knitter because waiting was not an option. 😀 I was tossed up between this turq, red and purple but I was then reminded of my beloved jacket. That and Nancy said this color was making her heart flutter. So it had to be turquoise. This is a really quick knit, with an amazing shape and fit. As much as I love the fringe, it also looks great without it. It’s so easy and fun to wear!
