Better late than never!

Over the summer, I went to the National Flute Convention in Portland, Oregon. I met so many amazing people I’ve followed for ages and learned so much from the different lectures I attended.

I got to play a baroque flute and I could not be more in love with it.
I went to Powells Bookstore and got too many books but that is simply what happens when I’m near a bookstore.
And I got to have a girls vacation with Rachelle Dubson, what is better than that?

We landed in one piece and I am happy to say that I will be staying on ground for the foreseeable future.

I started my senior year at Millikin. Terrifying to admit, but looking forward to student teaching and grad school applications are coming fast.
I am happy to come back to my private students and see how they progress this semester.

My favorite lecture at the convention had me come out with a quote: “we are not flutists, we are musicians who use the flute as our means of expression. We are all musical people and we can all share our gifts in different ways.”

Last bit of NFA. Overwhelmed by the beauty and joy of our global flute community. It is always extraordinary seeing dear friends from every facet of our flute lives and journeys, and I am grateful for the opportunities to hear my amazing friends and hero’s, meet and connect with superstars, dream together, and plan for the future.

My friend @gioflute said it best: “In the end, what I most loved is seeing how my friends have evolved through the years and are now doing great things and embracing their dreams that we only dreamt about years ago.” Couldn’t agree more. Inspired, filled, and ready for the new school year! Bless you all!

Thank you @danielpardomusic @paolarincones and the entire @nfaflute team for creating such a special convention. 🪈💗✨

Our most special project yet: a unique switchable headjoint for the flute.

With one small twist, you can transform the sound of your classical flute into the reedy, ethereal voice of a bamboo flute, two distinct worlds of sound in a single instrument.

Our artist, Rozalind @getyourfluteon recently had the chance to try out our very first prototype. Have a listen and tell us what you think!

Now we need your help: what name would you give this headjoint? We’d love to hear your ideas in the comments. 👇
