GFNY is more than a race—it’s a chance to be a pro for a day. 🚴‍♂️

What an incredible experience! GFNY is a highly recommended road race for anyone looking to put some distance in their legs, test their fitness, and sharpen their race-day tactics.

I learned a lot out there and rode stronger than I did last year. Already looking forward to seeing what we can do next year.

See you on the road! 🏁

Gran Fondo Nats 2026 🥈

Had an incredible weekend of racing up in Maryland for my first National Championships race! I’m stoked to come away with a U23 podium against some wildly strong competition. This race pushed me to a level I didn’t know I had, but it gives me a real opportunity to dream about what’s possible.

To everyone in my life who supports me, thank you. It means more than you know.
And to my coach, @sleepydeew, thank you for making the process so easy to trust. I can’t wait to see what the future holds! 🔥

🇺🇸 2026 Gran Fondo National Champion🏆

85 miles, 9,000+ feet of climbing, and 5 timed segments throughout the course made for a pretty good weekend of racing in Maryland!

Started out strong, definitely felt the fatigue creeping in by the third segment, but managed to recover and finish the final segments strong. The last 11-mile segment was probably my favorite. I was able to get in with a fast group and we sent it through the climbs, descents, rollers, and gravel.

Ended the day with the fastest time for females and came home with a National Championship jersey 🇺🇸🥇

A fun course, some seriously hard efforts, and a pretty cool title to add to the cycling resumé. I guess I can officially say I’m a 4x National Champion now! 😁

So thankful for everyone who supports me and all the people I get to do training rides with and race with. I truly love this cycling community❤️🚵🏻‍♀️ @lightningcycles_nc @maloney.jeff @conniemaloney27 @kaleb_mckinney68 @cognativemtb #nationalchampionship #granfondo #marylandracing #usacycling

This weekend I competed in my first ever national cycling championships.

I wasn’t feeling particularly excited—or confident—going into the race. I was worn down from a long year of intense training. Worn down from several very stressful weeks at work, followed by a long week of work travel and performance. I was feeling a little sick. The forecast was rainy. And I was more than a little worried about crashing and breaking my leg (again), this time while alone on the other side of the country.

So I did a lot of inner work going into the race.

I tried to reconnect with the joy of riding my bike. I stopped thinking about results and refocused on process goals: Fuel well. Don’t forget anything. Control your pacing. Stay on course. Don’t crash. And, ideally, have a little fun.

Did I perform at my peak? No.

Did I hit all of my process goals and actually enjoy myself out there? Yes.

Did I still manage to snag a podium at my first-ever national championship?

Also yes.

I’ll take that as a win. 🥉🚴‍♀️

It’s been a big and sometimes tough couple of weeks for Durner Performance athletes, with wins, course records, redemption, and plenty of grit along the way.

Katie Branham (@ktbranham) went the biggest as she returned to the Vapor Trail 125 looking for redemption after having to withdraw 14 hours into the race last year. This time, she made it happen, finishing all 125 miles and 18,000 feet of climbing in one of the toughest mountain bike races around.

Justin Spangler (@jrsprangler_) put together two huge weekends. He took the overall win at LoToJa on Sept. 12, setting a new course record in the process, then followed it up with the men’s 35–39 title at the Gran Fondo National Championships.

At Rebecca’s Private Idaho, Liz Saenz (@saenzter) took the win in the Para Female Upright category, while Brian Cone (@brian_conetucky) battled all the way to the finish to take second in the Para Male Recumbent category.

Down in New Mexico, Macky Franklin (@sydandmacky)won two stages on his way to the overall title at the inaugural New Mexico Singletrack Stage Race.

Of course, racing isn’t all sunshine and gummy bears. These past couple of weeks have also brought illness, a medical emergency, crashes, and DNFs for our athletes too. That’s part of life and sport though, and these athletes keep showing up when things get hard.

2026 Gran Fondo National Championship
5th in age group

2 years ago I started riding a bike to work. Never would I have thought that I would race a national level race and definitely didn’t think a podium spot in my age group was obtainable.
Shoutout to my beautiful partner @janelle.wagner3 for sticking by my side through all the training and exhaustion, and to my parents for taking the 10hr drive to enjoy this amazing event with us. @cosracing I couldn’t have done this without your support and mentorship’s.
Frederick Maryland @gfondonatseries knows how to put on a party! Thank you!
On to the next year!!
