Two tapes: ghost and tape – Pardinyas (Dauw), Heine Christensen’s most minimal work to date, Eurorack resampling where melody appears and dissolves before you register it. Nate Scheible – plume, edition of 100, grey shells, collage j-card. Quiet, patient ambient from the DC drummer.

Two CDs from 20_14, the Copenhagen platform run by drummer Rune Kielsgaard — free improvisation with Nova Varnrable, Mija Milovic, Cæcilie Trier and African-American Sound Recordings. Assembly music, recorded live, no hierarchy.

We are very happy to announce our latest release Apricity.

Apricity is a compilation album featuring a diverse range of artists from the modern ambient music scene. Bringing together a collection of rich, atmospheric soundscapes, the album explores themes of transition, warmth, and quiet reflection.

Inspired by the subtle shift between seasons, Apricity captures the gentle beauty of winter softened by sunlight—the rare, comforting glow of a warm winter’s day.

Each track contributes to this fleeting feeling, blending textures and tones that evoke stillness, renewal, and the delicate balance between cold and warmth. The result is a cohesive listening experience that invites the audience to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves in the serene essence of seasonal change.

"There is a moment—easy to miss—when winter loosens its hold, not with a sound but with a softening. The sunlight comes back differently then, not sharp, but tender, an apricity that settles on your skin like a quiet reassurance. Along the hedgerows, something stirs beneath the brown and brittle remains, a green insistence rising without hurry. Even the air feels changed, carrying a sweetness that was not there before. You stand in it, aware of nothing dramatic, only this: the world, without asking, has begun again."

Behind the scenes, fans and artists of Whitelabrecs have a community called Inner Echo, shared with the @driftworks_recordings @elm_records & @evergreenmusicuk record labels.

This year we’re running monthly topics to spark discussion and creativity, and January’s theme is around album artwork. We’ve been sharing some of our favourite covers, debating whether and why the art is still important in this day and age, and introducing some books and resources around the inportance of art and design.

So I thought I’d take a scan through my CD collection and pick 10 covers which I love…

❓what’s your favourite piece of album art? And what role do you think the visual art side of things has to play in a release campaign?

I was going to post up that, the latest episode of Transmissions was 38, but this has just come through.

Thank you to everyone who has listened, and I should say, but never do, to the artists who produce the music.

If you fancy a listen here’s a link:

Transmissions returns this evening with another Observations on Electronica, playing music that sits, however uncomfortably, under the umbrella of Electronica.

At the usual time of 9pm (UK) on Mixcloud, link below or in bio.
