In celebration of PRIDE I’m happy to announce the official release of @birdermovie (AppleTV+/Amazon) winner of the Feature Jury prize at Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
What an honor to act amongst this courageous cast, vulnerably expressing their energy in this unique thriller of consent gone awry. Thank you director @natedushku and writer @tummyami for your vision and care. (Fun fact: Nate and I grew up in the same corner of Boston, and reconnected on this movie for the first time since elementary school).
Deep gratitude for the intimacy coordination team @brookemhaney, @heck.support and @professorpace for fostering a safe environment to explore erotic and violent themes.
And big love to my on-screen family, and the whole cast and crew for leaning in to the fun and summer camp of it all!!

This cast.
This touring team.
What incredibly talented storytellers I was fortunate to share the stage with. Each day I watched, in awe of their precision, their humanity, their dedication and generosity. You are magic. Thank you for welcoming me into your sacred circle.

This show.
Aya Ogawa has created something spectacular in simplicity. The Nosebleed successfully examines failure, and the looming presence of absence. It reminds, we may begin again, with forgiveness.

This audience.
Thank you for joining us. For your witness, presence and participation in this ritual. Your support was palpable. LA, you made me proud, and oh so grateful.

What a gift theatre can be.

Thank you REDCAT for holding us.

Thank you Emily Wanserski for seeing the possibility.

Swipe to peel back the curtain on the creative process…
Big love and appreciation to Megan Lawson for her vision and invitation to play.

Creating movement is only one piece of the indispensable contribution of a choreographer… A few others: camera movement, framing, timing, tone, comedy, and in some cases a pre-vis that totally guides the shot list and final edit. — Ms Lawson is one such maestro of movement I’m very fortunate to work with and study.

…And of course the ever hilarious Donald and Zach

Repost from @meganguwre :

Sometimes the work is a superbowl spot guiding Zach and Donald in their musical moment!

Thank you @giantmiles for the invaluable support, friendship and assist♥️. Thank you Jerome Robbins for the timeless snap jump.

Swipe for draft 1: an extended and embellished previs :)

Would love to tell my clueless 16 year old self I’d be in a rose garden state of play with these 2 one day.

After 29 years, STOMP held its final performance at the Orpheum Theatre in NYC tonight.
What this show and that space held for me and fellow generations of performers who graced the boards in that dusty shoebox of a theatre, is hard to put into words… It’s a whole world.

The stuff of dreams, if you dream of factory alleyways and street theatre. Which apparently, we all did.
I saw the show in its first months. Following the performance, all I wanted was to return as soon as possible - to somehow be a part of that weird little world. It’s where I felt I’d belong.

The Orpheum itself is intimate and unforgiving. The audience sees and hears everything. There is almost no separation from the stage and the front row… spectators as exposed as performers. It’s vulnerable for everyone.

Backstage is cramped, stuffy, home to generations of grime, jokes, forgotten boots, and endless stories.

From that cave we were born to a new life. A new family.
One that influenced my perception, my appreciation, my world view.

To those that filled this box with music disguised as noise, thank you for including me in something so present and vital… we belong.
Love you STOMP.

May the next inhabitant feel a ringing in their ears.
