Rides in Salzburg never get old. That also applies to all the shit talking done during said rides. Last few months have been intense so catching up with everyone has been a nice pause to regroup for a second.

Get yourself a friend that helps you move to Denmark, rides stupid rides with you, and also is a big fan of @primozroglic. 🤷🏻‍♂️

How did you spend your summer?

With Laura’s recovery ongoing, a bikepacking trip wasn’t on the cards this year. Instead, we loaded up the Jazz and embarked on a 4,000km road trip around Europe revisiting some of the places we passed through last year when we were racing in Italy.

We got soaked in Bruges, utterly charmed by Luxembourg, and found a hidden cycling gem in the Black Forest before arriving in Salzburg. @gileywiley graciously hosted us for five nights and showed us some of the best gravel I’ve ever ridden across the border in Bavaria. We swam in lakes, explored the beautiful city, and relaxed in the foothills of the alps before it was time to begin the journey home.

A night staying on a canal boat in a thunderstorm just outside of Strasbourg was followed by two nights in The Ardennes. Wallonia isn’t somewhere I’ve spent much time before, but I will definitely go back. The cycling there is like riding a roller coaster and it’s beautiful in a way I didn’t know Belgium could be.

From there we headed north to stay with @elineadrianne in Pijnacker. Eline showed us the beautiful city of Delft and we soaked in the last of the Euro vibes before getting the boat back across to the UK.

One seven hour ferry later and we landed in Harwich, but the trip didn’t end there. We headed to Yorkshire to stay with Laura’s folks and catch a few stages of the Tour of Britain in Lincoln and Beverley. Our last stop of the trip was across in North Wales on Anglesey. Newborough Beach is one of my favourite places, and going back there softened the blow of returning to the UK and the trip coming to an end.

Back in Bristol now. Three weeks cramped into the Jazz with @laura_bikesnmusic is the best holiday I could wish for after what was quite a tough first half of the year. Life’s good.

This post is not a Honda ad.

Kalkalpen | 🇦🇹 | August ‘25

Another set from the bikepacking adventure across @nationalparkkalkalpen. A morning waking up by beautiful Traunsee, and then heading into the mountains. A national park characterized by white gravel roads and canyons running deep across the range. It’s also the only park in Austria with official bivvy spots which is great for planning hikes or bike trips. You can even take a dip in a river at one of them if you want to brave the cold water. Apparently it’s good for recovery. 🤷🏻‍♂️😄

A few bike ride shots. Balancing family, work, and cycling isn't as simple as it was a decade ago, but everything feels just right. The bike time I do get is more valuable, my fitness is at an all-time high, but I'm not as caught up in taking photos. I’ve been using the Oakley Meta Vanguards a lot lately. A very interesting device - I just have to remember to use them!

Gesäuse & Kalkalpen National Parks | 🇦🇹 | august ‘25 | bikepacking across the old forests of Austria

this side of Austria always felt like a hidden gem when compared to the rest of the Austrian Alps. it’s a bit more raw. there’s strade bianche style roads through old canyons. there’s rewilding projects to bring back the lynx.

it’s a vibe that reminds more of Slovenia bikepacking routes.
