My fav theme… ☀️🌒✨. Embroidered by hand as a little reminder… strength and courage, femininity and flow, magic and wonder.

Join us Saturday 11:30-2 for our @powaypilates Open House! Have a browse at my perfectly imperfect ruffle collar shirts, appliquéd and embroidered vintage sweatshirts, dresses and totes. 😁 Every piece is sewn with love. Maybe you can find all of the references to movies, books, music, and sayings I love? Some pieces can even be customized with personal embroidery, if you like. 🧵😘🫶 classes at 7, 8, 9 and 10 as usual! And the @powayfarmersmarket will be just out on the street from 8-1. See you there! @snightingale1968

I started teaching Pilates when my oldest was just a toddler — over two decades later, I’ve taught everything from Mat Pilates and Reformer to kids’ dance, pole, cheer, and heels. Movement is my language.

Married 27 years to my radiation oncologist husband, who shows up faithfully to his Saturday morning Pilates class so he can keep his golf and softball game strong. 💪

Fight on forever — I’m a USC Trojan through and through, and still love staying active in the alumni community. ✌️

Off the mat: sewing projects, dance class when I can sneak away, tarot decks, and a new mahjong obsession. Daily walks with my big dogs Arlo (English cream retriever) and Izzy (husky) — rain or shine.

But my proudest role is mom. Cheering Ryan on at his DJ sets at Nova, watching Elliot graduate Coast Guard Boot Camp — nothing beats it. 🖤

Things I say a lot:

Life is an experiment!
It’s like a playground, for grown ups.

If I say it’s fun… it’s hard. If it’s friendly, it’s feel-good.
Get organized in your body.

Why I love Pilates:

Pilates is how I move through life. When you find the connection with your body, movement through the world with grace feels possible. I’m also a dancer and have been for my entire life. Pilates allows me to continue dancing even at this “vintage” age.

Every single person in the room came to play. They didn’t just learn Cell Block Tango, they lived it… the chin up, the eyes sharp, the “you had it coming” energy in every single move. Storytelling and attitude, all the way through to the last beat.

This is what happens when a room full of women stop worrying about getting it right and just go for it. 🔪⛓️‍💥🖤

Some mornings I need reminding that I’m made of the same stuff as all of this. Found my way to these words recently — sharing them here in case they ground you the way they grounded me.

Happy Birthday to the glamorous GM!! ✨🎂

There is so much I could say about this amazing sister of mine, but I’ll keep it short and sweet.

To know true sisterhood is to know that no matter what life throws your way, you always have someone who will open their heart (and closet) without hesitation. So if and when life ever hands me lemons… I know fully and without a doubt I can always say, “F*ck these lemons, I’m going to Gina’s house!” 👯‍♀️😂

That pretty much sums up the kind of woman and sister she is. G, thank you for always being my safe place, my biggest supporter, and the person who’s never hesitated to share your purse panties, your sparkle and shine, your makeup and skincare products, your laughter, and most importantly your love and beautiful soul with me. You’ve shown me what unconditional friendship looks like, and I will never take that for granted.

My love and loyalty to you are as endless as the sky is vast. 🌌 Cheers to you on your special day. I love you beyond words. Happy Birthday, G! 💘🥂✨
