I keep saying I’m retired from tri, and somehow, someway, I keep getting pulled back into the world of triathlon. honestly, I’m not sad about it. The friendships, the people, the vibe—it’s all pretty special.

Today was extra special, not because of the win, but because I got to share the course with my daughter and her boyfriend, with my son there cheering on and supporting us.

Over the years, I was often solo on my race trips. Even when I reached the top step, there was sometimes an emptiness that came with having no one I loved there to share it with.

Today filled my heart with joy.

Maybe I’ll do a few more races—not for the podium, but if it means I can motivate my kiddos, share these experiences with them, and create memories together. That’s the 🏆 🥇

Once a triathlete, always a triathlete. ❤️🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️
@bettydesigns @bettysquad represented! & so many other Betty kits out there today that I supported 💕.
Thanks to the encouragement of my teammate @ginnylovestri24 ; there might be one more race on the horizon soon 😬 as I mentioned; fitness, fun, friends & challenges - what I’m all about these days

No photo dump from Puerto Rico. Barely took any pictures. I was ACTUALLY ON VACATION! A much needed trip and escape, even got stuck a few extra days. No complaints here. Take me back 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

It always takes me a little while to write my post race posts. I like to take time to process how my race went, reflect on my training, and take notes on my experiences to share with my own athletes.

Louisville, Kentucky has my heart. ⚜️. It’s the home of my very first Ironman. The home of my second Ironman. The place where I ran my fastest marathon. It is a magical space for me, so many memories, mind games and accomplishments.

As I’ve stated previously, due to my stroke and my dormant brain aneurysm, Ironman in its full distance is off the table for me. I live devastated to that news as I felt it was my identity over the years. Anyway, I digress.

Louisville 2025. A race to remember. Relays. Taking best friends and splitting the load appropriately according to our strengths. I’m the runner. The one responsible for the outcome! No pressure 😜. This run had several goals for me; covering half marathon distance for the first time in years, handling the heat, and keeping my heart rate under 165 BPMs.

It was 104 steamy degrees, there were monster hills but there were also my teammates and my husband and his teammates and a city full of life and coveted red carpet awaiting! We were able to snag a 🥈 place podium, which was a first in Ironman for me! I couldn’t be more happy and I am so excited for us to do it again! The spark is back for all of us, being able to still participate in long course sport that we love. 🫶🏻

Takeaways: •heat acclimation is absolutely necessary. •hill training is critical. • heart rate training is life saving •having fun is the BOTTOMLINE 🫡
