Every year we create a newsprint publication of work from a single theme. This year's theme, was ROCK.

When I announced a call for entry I had no idea the tremendous response we would receive- the longest of any digital exhibition we had ever had.

I am honoured by the artists who have kindly offered their work in consideration and am delighted to share ROCK is now available for pre-order.

We are delighted to welcome another award winning photographer to share work on Monday at Photo Scratch - Gin Rimmington Jones @ginrimjon will share “Between the knowing and the naming falls the shadow” as she prepares to exhibit the work later this year, she is seeking your feedback and we're delighted she will be part of this special Photo Scratch edition. Of the work she writes "this is a story about primal encounter. It is about experiencing from within. This body of work springs from a residency I did in Northern Almeria last year. Almeria is Europe’s only official desert. I was based at 1000m above sea level, where the average annual rainfall is only 200mm. It is an arid and challenging limestone landscape, dominated by the one-green of the Aleppo pine; and huge swathes of arable farmland that was abandoned in the 1960s. My practice engages with humankind’s relationship to the earth, and its to us; it challenges the myth of human primacy. Instead my work asserts the idea of a kind of landscape interiority. I question our idea of nature as something separate, over there, a spectacle to be had or a source of raw materials to be exploited...What happens when you encounter a place for which you have no references, no language, no stories? Then, you are in the thickness of the present, a part of the landscape as much as a rock or a seed or a root. And you will be inside the experience of place."// MUCH to be absorbed in - book your free tickets via link in our bio.

We recently had the pleasure of meeting up with Gin Rimmington Jones, our Metro Imaging x SATORI Mentorship winner from earlier this year, to see how her practice has been progressing. The image here is part of a new body of work "Between the knowing and the naming, falls the shadow," made as part of an artist residency in Almeria province, Spain. The project “portrays a philosophical and spiritual encounter with landscape as space of intersecting narratives. It is about encountering a primal space from within a primal self." We're excited to be sharing a more detailed WIP interview with Gin at findsatori.com in the coming weeks @metroimaging @ginrimjon #workinprogress #fineartphotography #mentorship #findsatori #artistinresidence #independentpublishing ginrimmingtonjones.com
