Tradition, reimagined. Heritage, redefined. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ What happens when Filipino craftsmanship meets contemporary design? This custom barong for Lance is my take on bringing tradition into a new era. Made from 100% pineapple fabric, this piece reinterprets the Barong Tagalog through modern silhouettes, textile manipulation, and artisanal detailsโ€”honoring its roots while exploring new possibilities. The focal point is the handwoven front panel, inspired by our local artisans and the intricate weaving traditions behind pieces like banig, bags, and hats. I wanted to transform a familiar craft into something unexpected, bridging traditional techniques with a contemporary fashion perspective. As a Filipino designer, I want to create pieces that reflect where I come from while exploring where fashion can take us. To me, honoring our culture means more than preserving the past; it means allowing our traditions to evolve while keeping their stories and craftsmanship alive.
