Could you withstand the shock of 300 “No”s before getting your first real “Yes”? 😳

Let’s throwback to when Wale Mafolasire, CEO of Givelify , sat down on the Black Business Leaders Podcast.

Before turning his idea into a $6 billion+ giving movement, he faced wave after wave of rejection. 300 times people told him it wouldn’t work. Most people would have packed it up after 10. But he looked past the rejections, trusted the vision, and built a platform that transformed how millions give.

It’s a powerful reminder: a “no” right now isn’t the end of your story, but often just the setup for scale.

Mafolasire, the Founder and CEO of Givelify on rejection.

The hardest part about hearing “no” isn’t the rejection itself.

It’s the story we start telling ourselves after.

“If they don’t believe in me… maybe I’m not good enough.”

That’s where self-doubt grows.

A closed door doesn’t determine your value. It simply means your journey continues. Keep showing up, keep doing the work, and trust that your purpose isn’t decided by someone else’s opinion.

What’s one “no” that ended up leading you somewhere better? 👇

📍 Oak Cliff Proud!

Had the opportunity to meet Dr. Edwards today. 👏🏾🩺

I love seeing Black professionals invest back into the communities that raised us. Dr. Edwards took a chance and invested in revitalizing part of the Glendale Shopping Center by opening an Urgent Care right here in Oak Cliff. 🏥❤️

Thank you for serving our community and creating greater access to healthcare. 🙌🏾

Leadership can be lonely. It can also be transformational.

That’s why I created 1@2 — a leadership forum designed specifically for second-chair leaders, executive pastors, COOs, senior staff, and those trusted to help carry the vision.

How do you use technology without losing the soul of your vision?

In a recent conversation with @toluakindunni, Wale Mafolasire (CEO of @givelify) broke down why they use AI to understand human psychology rather than just processing transactions. They look at millions of users and ask a fundamental question: How do we help you become the type of giver you imagine yourself to be?

Givelify’s Giving in Faith report highlights the “consistency shortfall”: the massive gap between a person’s desire to support a cause and their actual follow-through. By embedding behavioral science into their tech, they actively help people bridge the gap between their intentions and their actions.

What measures are you exploring to keep your mission human-centric, while embracing and scaling technology?

Wale Mafolasire kept hitting the same wall.

First, it was sitting in a church pew, realizing he could read the Bible on his phone but couldn’t use it to give digitally. Then, it was at fundraising events, filling out physical giving cards only to forget the follow-up later.

He knew he had to build a solution for the spontaneous giver like himself: the person who wants to support a cause in the moment but doesn’t have the administrative structure to follow up later.

The critics told him his vision was impossible. But Wale was trained in a military school. He knew how to handle rejection. He vowed to stop chasing outside validation, look inward, and rely completely on his own execution.

Today, Givelify supports over 2 million organizations that have processed over 7.5 billion transactions.

Persistence is the price of vision. “You just gotta do what you gotta do”. And for Wale, that meant he had to be the one to fund the future himself, even if he had to sell his car for it - and be without one for 6 years in Indianapolis!

What is one big sacrifice you had to make in order to keep your vision alive?

Watch out for this no-holds-barred episode with Wale Mafolasire, CEO of @givelify .
