How cooked is too cooked? Theres two forms of fatigue. One means you’re getting stronger, the other means you’re on the verge of over training. HRV is a valuable tool everyone should be tracking. Higher the HRV the better. If there’s a sudden drop in your HRV, you need to look at how much you’re training. Pay attention to these signs.

Riders who never stop doing intervals accumulate more fatigue than fitness. That’s why strong riders early season fall apart later in the season. Proper periodization beats excess volume and intensity every time. We build backward from your A-races. Long, repeatable base weeks first, then specific intervals when your body can actually absorb them.
No guesswork. Just structure that gets you to the line fresh, not flat.

The off-season isn’t a break from progress, it’s where progress is made, and kept.
But how can you actually use it?
REST: Give your body 1-2 weeks of unstructured movement, or fully off before returning to training. Fatigue you can’t feel is still there. That’s what we call cumulative fatigue.
REFLECT: What worked this season? What broke down? Write it down on a board or paper, and see what to do from there.
REBUILD: Low intensity, high consistency. It’s a lot easier to say “Let’s make this one session perfect”, than “Let’s make this whole month perfect”.
ADDRESS weaknesses: Mobility, strength, the things you skipped in season. They matter more than another hour on the bike.
SET intentions: not just goals. Goals are finish lines. Intentions are how you show up every single day between now and then.
The athletes who come into next season sharp aren’t the ones who trained hardest in the 3 months leading up to the season, They’re the ones who were smart about what they did, and didn’t do.
And we can help with that.

@belgianwaffleride California was a great weekend of emcee work with a great group of very talented folks who are passionate about cycling! I'm honored to be on the 🎤 at such a prestigious event. Congrats to all the riders who toed it to the line. Kudos to all my friends racing too! Got to see the Padres lose! Thanks to Ed with @service.course.report for relaying all the happenings from the lead car with @ibemmx! There were so many @socalleague kids there, current & alumni! Can't wait for BWR Montana. #gravel #unroad #bwrcalifornia #pedal #getoutside
