How was this a week ago??

Seven days ago my fabulous friends were blowing up black balloons on the kitchen worktop and i was stressing as to if anyone would actually turn up.

They turned up. The drive was full, the sun came out (in Liverpool, in September, I know!!) and I got to open the doors to #ProjectBrooklands, the UK’s first key worker only co-living home.

Six ensuite bedrooms. Solar on the roof, an air source heat pump, all bills included. A home built for people who work shifts, live with vetting rules and deserve to come back to somewhere that actually gets it.

I started Black Flamingo Homes because I’ve lived this problem for nearly 20 years. Standing outside that house last Saturday, drink in hand, surrounded by people who believed in it before there was anything to see, is a feeling I won’t forget in a hurry.

To everyone who came, poured drinks, carried things, cheered and then followed me into town afterwards: thank you. You were flamazing!! 🖤

Now for the important bit: filling it. If you’re a key worker in Liverpool, or you know one who needs a proper home, the link is in my bio. Resgister now!

Another successful completion ✨

This wasn’t the easiest deal to place initially. We had a client with a strong reason for funding, but because of the nature of the business and the overall structure, finding the right facility took a little more work.

It’s a great reminder of why relationships and having the right people around you matter so much in commercial finance!

After speaking with Chris Gladwin at Sedulo Debt Advisory, we were able to explore a different route and ultimately secure a £100,000 secured facility through Nationwide Finance!

What an outcome! 🤗

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Chris for all your help on this one! Sometimes one conversation, one introduction and the right contact can completely change the outcome of a deal. 🤗

This is exactly why collaboration in our industry is so important. 🌹

Great start to the Quarter and a very happy Friday! ✨

I don’t usually say this out loud, but there was a point I thought Project Brooklands would never open.

Twelve months of planning fights. The money getting messy halfway through the build. The opening pushed back from August, because none of it goes the way you plan it.

Saturday, it opened anyway.

What kept you going when you wanted to quit something? Tell me below.

**EMOTIONAL ALERT‼️

What can I say about this weekend…. WOW!! The Grand opening of #ProjectBrooklands - the uks first key worker only home and it has been a rollercoaster of emotions!

The event was fantastic and thank you everyone that came and supported @gem_gem_79 and @bfh_ltd 🖤 the feedback has blown me away! Thank you to @yourlightmattersuk and @colbierbrewco for being involved it was great to have you there!!

The biggest THANK YOU though goes out to all my fabulous ladies that came and helped me pull this off!! They saved me and I am truly grateful for all your hard work and help to get this how I wanted! I appreciate you all and thank you for all the gifts and cards - you really are the best bunch of ladies and I am so grateful and I love you all! 💖

I am very emotional right now. This has been a year of hard work alongside a full time job and the event was so important to me. Not only to showcase my vision but also as a celebration of getting here when so many people said ‘no’ at the beginning and said the project was ‘too big’ for me. Well here I am (as they say in Liverpool) bossing it!!!! 👊🏻 🤣

If you attended please give me a trust pilot review!

There’s a few finishing touches but the tenant viewings are underway. If you know a key worker looking for safe and secure, decent housing in Liverpool the link to register is in my bio.

Thank you again!! My heart is very full today 💖

From wasted space to my favourite room in the house.

This loft used to be dead space. A small room that didn’t know what it wanted to be. A strange balcony. A hallway that led nowhere useful. Nobody was using it properly.

I opened the whole thing up. Found problems I didn’t know were there and dealt with every one of them. Lowered the floor to get extra head height. Fully insulated it. Added heating. Built in a kitchen area that wasn’t even in the original plan, and a bigger en suite than I’d budgeted for.

It’s now more than double the size it was, and it’s a completely private, self contained space. Furniture goes in next week.

This is what I mean when I say key workers deserve better than white walls and a mattress. Thoughtful design. Proper insulation. A space that actually feels like home after a night shift, not just somewhere to crash.

So tell me honestly, is this the best room in the house?

Most people ask where their money will grow fastest. Wrong question.

The better one: what do you actually want it to be part of.

Every pound behind Black Flamingo Homes goes into something real. A building you could actually walk into. Key workers who finally have somewhere stable to live around shift work that doesn’t make sense to anyone who’s never done it.

Project Brooklands is home #1. It won’t be the last.

This isn’t charity and it isn’t a spreadsheet — it’s a growing business built around housing the people who show up for the rest of us: police, fire, ambulance, NHS, teachers, prison officers.

New to this kind of thing? Already got money sitting somewhere and wondering if it could be doing more? Either way, I’d genuinely like to talk to you.

DM me ‘INVEST’ and I’ll tell you what backing BFH actually looks like.
