Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the opening for ‘Pieces to Short to Save: A Survey of Contemporary Collage’ at SoNa Gallery (@sonachicagoart) in Chicago. What a beautiful show and an honor to have my work on view with Tony Fitzpatrick, who selected the artists before his passing, and so many artists I admire and am happy to call friends. Many great works pictured here, others I didn’t get pics of with that huge opening crowd!

Also, very meaningful to hear Paloma Trecka (@paloma_shaloma_xicago) and Nellie Siegel (@kentucky_shorty) share stories from their time with Tony and to hear his children read from his poetry.

If you’re in the Chicago area in the next month, be sure to check out the show.

What an incredible opening at SoNa Chicago Gallery last night!! Serious props to the vision and curation of Laura and Molly to put together a really stunning exhibition! I loved meeting all the artists and local Chicago art supporters!

A portion of the opening was dedicated to the memory of Tony Fitzpatrick who started putting this show together last summer.

I was honored to MC that part and to tell my story of how I met Tony and to introduce some incredible people to share their history with Tony as well. This included his children Max and Gaby who read several of his poems. So memorable!!

I'm grateful to enrich my connections to the art scene in Chicago. Looking forward to future visits and projects. And thanks to Tony for the introduction!!

For me, the beginning of the work is material study. Here, I was inspired by the flickering Luminarias or Farolitos that adorn the night architecture of New Mexico. It was said that these once safely guided scouts back to camp: beacons mapping the way. This is one of four unique screenprints that are On View at Madron Gallery, 1000 West North Avenue, 3rd Floor, CHICAGO from March 26th-June 12th and during EXPO Chicago. Opening Reception Thursday, March 26th 5:30-8:30PM Please join me and three fellow artists to celebrate and show you what we see. #grateful
