Going old school for a #medalmonday because this weekend is the @nycmarathon and 2 years ago seems like a different life. I miss all these lovely people, we had such a good weekend 💕
My credit card, however, is very happy not to have been to an expo this autumn 😬😂

Just a couple of friends discussing @glennisfchan BQ, marathon experiences & medals over a long lunch in Salisbury, exactly what was needed (especially now that she's moved back to NZ).
And because it's my coping mechanism, a gentle 5k for me when I got home. Should probably rest a bit more but my head is quieter when I'm running

A truly wholesome day with @thiskateruns26.2 and @glennisfchan, wandering around the Fleet Street Quarter to find the 12 Days of Christmas Snowmen, which wasn't as easy as we'd hoped (number 9!) but was a great way to spend rest day and the first day of my Christmas break 🥰 Of course we had the obligatory @chimarathon debrief, talked about running a lot (it's the glue that brought us all together) and ended up at the Grosvenor Hotel for a lot of cake and more chatting about marathons.
I'll always be grateful that my free 😂😂 hobby brings such lovely friends into my life, and very glad Glennis convinced me to take more annual leave and get on a train to the Big Smoke. I think we've found another festive tradition 😏🎄🎅☃️

Last long run done

This time next week we will be in the starting corral in Chicago.

12 easy chatty miles in the bank with @glennisfchan who will be doing her second @chicagomarathon. So it was great to talk about all things Windy City.

Legs feel good, but need to keep an eye on my plantar. 49 miles for the week & even my @corosglobal watch is happy giving me an optimised status! 👌🏽

Had to start a little earlier than usual, meeting up at 8am. Which meant it was lovely & quiet in the City & relatively calm along the river. Legs felt pretty good

This time next week, we will be in our corrals!

Medal Monday - Community Edition

So good to meet up with the running community @officialbighalf , especially after being laid low with stomach flu last week. It was the thought of catching up with my running crew & community mates that kept me going to the finish line yesterday.

Shared miles & smiles

I needed that. Great 16 miler with @glennisfchan who is also on the road to Chicago. 49 days to go!

41.3 miles banked on what is supposed to be a recovery week, but after an 11.5 hour flight mid week I have been feeling it a bit this week. That’s despite 2 rest days, although they covered the travel.

It has been tempting to go harder given that the @officialbighalf is only 2 weeks away, but I keep telling myself to trust the process. My goals are around the marathon distance & given juggling other commitments I don’t feel PR ready for shorter distances - not having had the time to do specific sessions. So unless I feel amazing on the day, I am likely to use the race as a marathon pace try out.

Lovely to catch up with Glennis this morning, who I hadn’t really caught up properly since @nycmarathon . Great to talk life, training & race goals. Definitely made the time go quicker.

After the feeling of struggling through treacle for most of the week, it was good to be able to run free, fluid actually feel there is some fitness there & that I had more in the tank. NB SC Trainer V2 continues to serve me well. For a high stack super trainer they feel stable but with the right level of cushy responsiveness that I like - although I admit I love the cushier feel of the SC Elite V3 - which is the point right? Gotta have a race shoe that you love to lace up.

Big mileage week incoming!

London Marathon day, early start for volunteering. Its been a great day getting involved and seeing all you runners getting ready at the start line. After the shift, I managed to get to mile 22 and cheer some people on. Well done to all of you, and you should be proud of yourselves to achieve what you did.

I'm so incredibly lucky to have such inspirational and supportive women in my life, and I hope they all know how much I love and appreciate them. We may live on opposite sides of the country (and world in one case) but we're always there for each other 💖
.
Strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them 💖

⭐️Successfully grew tulips and dahlias
⭐️Had an awesome summer of running at home and on holiday
⭐️Took a plunge and left a toxic job. Eventually got a new and much nicer one
⭐️More house renovations
⭐️Ran Chester and achieved another BQ
⭐️Qualified for and got into Chicago

⭐️Made so many more memories
