POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last night we did a scratch. Scratched? In front of an audience? I’m new to this and unclear on the lingo. Anyway. We went along to Made in Cornwall and put on a (hastily) rehearsed read of a new short play I’ve been tinkering with, about AI and climate and idiots and why those things in combination might not be good actually.

A massive thank you to the incredible actors, @laineyclaxton @glintinghd @mayaclarkeactor and director Susan Lay. It was a total privilege to witness you work. Thanks to @fal_amata for having us, and to @kelly_mcdonalds for helping a hermit writer find friends.

Hope to do it again soon.

Most of you probably won’t know who the man in the middle of this photo is, but let me tell you, in the 1970s when I was growing up, #GriffFender was a Superstar! He is a member of the hit band DARTS and they rocked the charts. Just last week, I had the absolute privilege of working with him alongside the lovely Heidi Dorschler @glintinghd on Lisa Muten’s @yogawithlisauk new play, currently in R&D. #WhatWillHappenToTheCat. A moving story about Dementia and the devastating impact of #PredatoryMarriages. Despite the sensitive subject. We laughed, We experimented, and We created Pure Theatre Magic! All directed by @sparetyretheatre Artistic Director, @RebeccaMansonJones

We've been a bit quiet recently due to diving straight into an R & D period after the project in Croydon. We're very excited to have been supporting Associate Artist and long time facilitator/ collaborator, Lisa Muten, with the development of a new piece - What Will Happen to the Cat?

The story centres on Ted, who has dementia, and his daughter, Jo, as they come to terms with the effects of a 'cuckoo' family who have preyed on Ted. The story is a blending of the two writers' experiences of caring for their fathers living with dementia and navigating the relationships with new families.

Generously supported by Project Grant funding by Arts Council England, we were able to embark on the first part of the R & D for this project. We've traversed London with an excellent team for the past 2 weeks, and are enlivened by the process so far. Watch this space for more details on this project. If you have lived experience of the issues we've raised and would like to help co-create the show, please get in touch. We'll be looking to speak to people with experience of dementia and predatory marriage in February 2025.
