On Monday, October 5, GoodWeave co-organized “Solving Global Child Labor with Compassion” at American University’s School of International Service in Washington, D.C., featuring our founder and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi.

The event brought together more than 100 attendees for a keynote address by Kailash, who then joined our CEO Jon Jacoby and Tim Ryan, chairman of Global March Against Child Labour, for a panel discussion moderated by Judy Gearhart of American University Accountability Research Center.

The discussion highlighted progress in reducing child labor worldwide and the need to accelerate efforts to end it. Kailash emphasized the knowledge, resources, and legal frameworks are already in place, calling for greater urgency and moral responsibility.

The event was co-sponsored by American University’s School of International Service, the National Consumers League, the Child Labor Coalition, and the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion.

CHILDREN’S VOICES MATTER. WHAT WE DO NEXT MATTERS EVEN MORE.

Meet Aliyah Lamidi, a member of CYPF's club initiative led the VELA Girls speaking at a national dialogue on child labour reminds us of something important: children and young people must have a voice in the conversations and decisions that shape their lives.

But beyond listening, we must take action.

Hello Netherlands! 🇳🇱
We are young people from Uganda 🇺🇬 we will show your our community, our lives, we will share our stories of the work we did as children. Many of the things people buy pass through hands like ours, we want you to see that. But, we survived, some of us went back to school, some of us started our own businesses, and we all want that the children after us don’t have to do what we did. No more. Help us change that! #wakeup #fightchildlabor #connectforglobalchange #wakeupinvestigation

A powerful afternoon in DC yesterday with Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, who challenged us to see compassion as a call to act. We also heard from Tim Ryan of Global March Against Child Labour and Jon Jacoby of GoodWeave International. Thank you to our co-sponsors and everyone who joined us!

One month ago today, we witnessed the culmination of five weeks of preparation, coordination, learning and meaningful engagement with Nigerian children.

For five weeks, CYPF worked closely with the children, creating spaces for them to prepare, ask questions, share ideas, build confidence and discover the power of their own voices.

The 6th National Children’s Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour was more than a one-day event. It was the result of weeks of intentional engagement, teamwork and trust-building.

We watched the children grow from participants into confident voices, ready to speak, lead and advocate for a future free from child labour.

We are deeply grateful to the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment for trusting CYPF with this responsibility and for creating a platform where children could be heard, seen and meaningfully included.

One month later, the memories remain, but more importantly, the voices of the children continue to inspire us.

This is only the beginning.

After a 10-day well-being break, the CYPF team came back together today for a dedicated staff well-being retreat, a space to pause, reconnect, reflect, and check in with one another.

Returning to work isn’t just about getting back to our tasks. It’s also about asking: How are we doing? How did the break feel? What do we need as a team?

Today gave us room for honest conversations, reflection, laughter, learning, and connection. We checked in not just as colleagues, but as people.

Because behind every programme, report, campaign, and community we serve are people who also need care.

We’re back, refreshed, reconnected, and ready to continue the work together. 💚🌱

IT’S TIME TO PAUSE. REST. RECHARGE. RECONNECT.

At CYPF, we know that the people behind the work matter too. 💙

From 21 September – 2 October 2026, our team will be taking a Staff Well-Being Break to rest, reconnect with loved ones, pursue personal interests and prioritise their well-being.

During this period, our office will be temporarily closed and routine activities paused.

To our team: rest without guilt. Disconnect where possible. Reconnect with what matters. Come back renewed.

We reopen: Friday, 2 October 2026

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
