We had a brilliant day at Hilltop School in Rotherham, bringing together the incredible contractors behind the Great Yorkshire Build to celebrate how far we have come.👏 With the project now nearing completion, it was the perfect opportunity to say a huge thank you for their hard work, dedication and support in helping bring this transformation to life. We’re almost at the finish line and can’t wait to see the finished space and the difference it will make for pupils at Hilltop. 👷✨ Could you be part of our next Great Yorkshire Build? We’d love to hear from more contractors who want to help make a difference across Yorkshire.

The latest luxury Dakota Hotel at Manchester Airport has now completed on site and officially opened its doors. PWP Design is proud to have been part of the journey, successfully taking the landscape scheme from planning through to delivery on site.   The design carefully balanced the strict landscape requirements of Manchester Airport, BNG, and Dakota's distinctive brand identity, all of which influenced the selection of trees, planting and materials. We think the result speaks for itself.   The striking linear landscape reflects the hotel's bold geometric architecture, while the carefully curated planting palette softens the space, enhances biodiversity and creates a welcoming arrival experience for guests.   Simon and Roger recently attended the contractor's celebratory evening—a fantastic way to mark the successful completion of the project and celebrate the collaborative effort that brought it to life.   A special mention goes to Roger for leading the project, supported by the wider PWP Design team and working closely with the client, design consultants and contractor throughout the project. Congratulations to everyone involved!   Client: EVANS DAKOTA HOTELS LIMITED Landscape Architects: PWP Design Ltd Architects: KPP Architects Contractor: GMI Construction Group PLC Landscape Contractor: Ashlea Ltd Civil & Structural Engineers: JPG Group

JDDK Architects’ Director Nicky Watson recently joined fellow judges Andy Davey, Janine Riley and Jose Estavas de Matos at the York Design Awards presentation evening. Having been part of the judging panel since 2022, and now in her second year as Head of the Judging Panel, Nicky, along with her fellow judges, visited every project submitted over two days in May – an approach that makes the York Design Awards unique. Experiencing each scheme in person allows the judges to understand how it responds to its design brief and surroundings, how it is used, and the quality of its craftsmanship in a way that photographs simply can't capture. Every project is considered against five key criteria: quality of design, context, materials and workmanship, sustainability, and its ability to delight – often simply that feeling when a building is exactly how it should be and exactly where it belongs. From carefully crafted home extensions to transformative heritage restorations and contemporary public buildings, the awards celebrate the collaboration between clients, architects, designers, builders and craftspeople that brings exceptional projects to life. Congratulations to all of this year's entrants and winners for their contribution to York's outstanding built environment! #YorkDesignAwards #YorkArchitecture #ArchitectureAwards #Architecture #DesignExcellence

The panels are going in! Fabricated in Walsall, they’ve made the journey down to Avon Street, where they’re being installed by two people on site. The panels have a clever attachment system that allows them to click into place. Produced by @ginkgoprojects commissioned by @gmiconstructiongroup

The landscaping is well underway for Dakota Hotel at Manchester Airport. A striking linear landscape layout mirrors the strong geometric design of the architecture, creating a bold and contemporary setting for the hotel. The bands of planting create visual interest, playing with texture, form and colour. Following strict guidelines from Manchester Airport and BNG requirement created an interesting challenge where we had to balance the clients needs and their strong brand with the wider stakeholder interests and the environment. We're looking forward to seeing it completed! GMI Construction Group PLC Ashlea KPP Architects JPG Group
